Key Takeaways

  • Exodus has strong sentiment and broad presence, but it is under-recommended relative to how often it appears.
  • The main gap is placement: the brand rarely reaches top-three or rank-one positions, especially versus Ledger and Trezor.
  • Google AI Overviews is Exodus’s strongest platform, while ChatGPT is the weakest for recommendation coverage.
  • The biggest opportunity is improving recommendation placement in brand discovery prompts, not increasing mentions alone.

Answer Capsule

Exodus holds 39.49 percent valid recommendation coverage in the October 2026 Crypto Wallets benchmark, ranking fifth of ten tracked brands. The brand is visible but under-recommended relative to its presence: it appears in 49.93 percent of qualified observations but converts only 39.49 percent into valid recommendations. Its clearest win is a strong net sentiment score of 0.8269, and its clearest weakness is a rank-one rate of just 2.24 percent, down 3.1 points from May 2026. The biggest opportunity is closing the gap between presence and first-position recommendation in the Brand Recommendation cluster.

Executive Summary

Exodus closed October 2026 with 39.49 percent valid recommendation coverage, placing fifth among ten tracked crypto wallet brands. The brand recorded 335 mentions across 671 qualified observations, a raw mention presence rate of 49.93 percent, but converted only 265 of those into valid recommendations. That gap between presence and recommendation is the central finding of this report.

Sentiment is strong. Exodus recorded 278 positive mentions, 56 neutral mentions, and 1 negative mention, producing a net sentiment score of 0.8269. The brand is framed favorably when it appears. The problem is not how AI systems describe Exodus, it is how often they place it in the shortlist and how rarely they place it first.

The strongest cluster is C01, Best and Top Crypto Wallet Discovery, which carried all 671 qualified observations in October 2026. Within that cluster, Exodus holds a top-three rate of 15.05 percent and a rank-one rate of 2.24 percent. Both figures trail the category leaders by wide margins. Ledger holds a top-three rate of 53.20 percent and a rank-one rate of 30.70 percent in the same cluster.

The weakest signal is rank-one placement. Exodus recorded 15 rank-one recommendations in October 2026, compared with 206 for Ledger, 99 for Trezor, and 90 for MetaMask. The brand is present in AI answers but rarely wins the first slot.

The strongest platform signal for Exodus is Google AI Overviews, where the brand holds 51.18 percent valid recommendation coverage and 5 rank-one placements. The weakest platform signal is ChatGPT, where Exodus holds 12.99 percent valid recommendation coverage and zero rank-one placements.

The clearest gap is the absence of qualified observations in the Pricing and Value and Multi-Brand Comparison clusters. All 671 October observations fell into the Brand Recommendation class, meaning the benchmark cannot yet measure how Exodus performs when buyers ask about fees, value, or head-to-head comparisons.

What Exodus Is Winning

Questions This Section Answers

  • Where does Exodus hold its strongest sentiment and presence advantage over other crypto wallet brands?
  • Which platform produces the best recommendation and rank-one result for Exodus?

Exodus holds a strong sentiment position. Its net sentiment score of 0.8269 is the fourth highest in the tracked set, behind Zengo at 0.9018, BlueWallet at 0.8842, and Best Wallet at 0.8571. The brand recorded only 1 negative mention across 335 total mentions.

The brand also holds a meaningful presence position. At 49.93 percent raw mention presence, Exodus appears in roughly half of all qualified observations. That is ahead of Coinbase Wallet at 44.86 percent and well ahead of Zengo at 24.29 percent.

Exodus recorded the fifth-largest baseline-to-current coverage gain in the category, rising 20.9 points from 18.6 percent in May 2026 to 39.5 percent in October 2026. That gain places it ahead of Coinbase Wallet, Zengo, BlueWallet, and Electrum in absolute improvement since the baseline.

On Google AI Overviews, Exodus holds 51.18 percent valid recommendation coverage, its strongest platform result. The brand also recorded 5 rank-one placements on that platform, tied with ChatGPT for its highest rank-one count across platforms.

Where Exodus Has the Clearest AI Visibility Gaps

Questions This Section Answers

  • How large is the gap between Exodus mentions and valid recommendations in the Crypto Wallets benchmark?
  • Which platforms and competitors contribute most to Exodus losing rank-one placement?

Exodus is visible but under-recommended. The brand appears in 49.93 percent of qualified observations but receives a valid recommendation in only 39.49 percent. That 10.44-point gap between presence and recommendation coverage indicates that AI systems mention Exodus without placing it on the shortlist at a rate that exceeds the category pattern for leading brands.

The rank-one gap is more severe. Exodus holds a rank-one rate of 2.24 percent, down 3.1 points from 5.3 percent in May 2026. Ledger holds a rank-one rate of 30.70 percent, Trezor holds 14.75 percent, and MetaMask holds 13.41 percent. Exodus converts presence into first-position recommendation at roughly one-fourteenth the rate of the category leader.

The top-three gap is also significant. Exodus holds a top-three rate of 15.05 percent, compared with 53.20 percent for Ledger, 45.60 percent for Trezor, and 41.00 percent for MetaMask. The brand appears in top-three positions in roughly 1 of every 7 qualified observations, while the category leader appears in top-three positions in more than half.

On ChatGPT, Exodus holds 12.99 percent valid recommendation coverage and zero rank-one placements. That platform represents the weakest single-platform result for the brand. On Copilot, Exodus holds 36.67 percent coverage and 1 rank-one placement. On Gemini, the brand holds 52.75 percent coverage and 5 rank-one placements.

The brand also shows a widening gap to the category leaders. Exodus held 18.6 percent coverage in May 2026 when Ledger held 26.0 percent, a gap of 7.4 points. By October 2026, Exodus held 39.5 percent while Ledger held 73.0 percent, a gap of 33.5 points. The leaders accelerated faster than Exodus over the same period.

Biggest Opportunity

Questions This Section Answers

  • What is the single largest addressable improvement for Exodus in the October 2026 data?
  • Which prompt cluster contains the placement gap Exodus should target first?

The clearest opportunity for Exodus is converting its existing presence into top-three and rank-one recommendations within the Brand Recommendation cluster. The brand already appears in nearly half of all qualified observations. The gap is not visibility, it is placement.

Exodus holds 335 mentions but only 101 top-three recommendations and 15 rank-one recommendations. If the brand converted its presence into top-three placement at the rate Trezor does, it would hold roughly 306 top-three recommendations instead of 101. That gap represents the single largest addressable improvement in the October 2026 data.

The specific prompt types to target are those in the Brand Recommendation cluster where Exodus appears but is not placed in the top three. The benchmark does not expose prompt-level placement data in the public version, but the cluster-level metrics show that Exodus is losing top-three slots to Ledger, Trezor, and MetaMask in prompts where it is mentioned.

Competitive Landscape

Questions This Section Answers

  • How does Exodus rank against Ledger, Trezor, MetaMask, and Trust Wallet on top-three and rank-one rates?
  • Which brands sit above and below Exodus by average recommended rank?

Ledger and Trezor hold the strongest recommendation-stage positions in the October 2026 Crypto Wallets benchmark, with Trust Wallet and MetaMask forming a second tier. Exodus sits in the third tier, ahead of Coinbase Wallet, Zengo, BlueWallet, Electrum, and Best Wallet but well behind the leaders on top-three and rank-one placement.

What CiteWorks Studio Would Do Next

Phase 1: AI Visibility Market Discovery Audit Map every prompt where Exodus appears but is not recommended, and identify which competitors take the top-three and rank-one slots in those prompts.

Phase 2: Recommendation Readiness Plan Prioritize the Brand Recommendation prompts where Exodus holds presence but loses placement, focusing on the ChatGPT and Perplexity gaps where rank-one rates are zero.

Phase 3: Owned Answer Layer Buildout Strengthen Exodus-owned pages that AI systems can retrieve for high-intent wallet discovery prompts, particularly comparison and safety-focused queries.

Phase 4: Citation and Authority Layer Development Build the public evidence layer that AI systems cite when recommending crypto wallets, targeting the source types that appear in the benchmark citation data.

Phase 5: Monthly AI Visibility and Recommendation Tracking Track Exodus top-three rate, rank-one rate, and average recommended rank month over month to measure whether placement gaps are closing.

Why This Matters

AI presence alone is not enough. Exodus appears in nearly half of all qualified observations but converts that presence into a valid recommendation less than 40 percent of the time and into a rank-one placement just 2.24 percent of the time. Buyers who ask AI systems for a crypto wallet recommendation are seeing Exodus mentioned, but they are not seeing it recommended first.

The next move is targeted correction of the prompt, page, and citation layers that shape AI recommendations. The benchmark shows where Exodus is losing placement. A company-level audit shows which prompts, which competitors, and which source patterns are driving those losses.

Sentiment Score

Sentiment Score = (positive mentions x 1 + neutral mentions x 0 + negative mentions x -1) / total mentions

For Exodus in October 2026: (278 x 1 + 56 x 0 + 1 x -1) / 335 = 0.8269

This matters because unclassified mention counts are misleading. A brand that appears in 335 AI responses but is framed negatively in half of them is not in the same position as a brand with the same mention count and overwhelmingly positive framing. Exodus holds a strong sentiment position, with only 1 negative mention across 335 total mentions.

Share of voice is a diagnostic metric, not a business KPI. A positive recommendation, a neutral reference, a cautionary mention, and a competitor-displaced mention are not equal. Counting all mentions as wins is bad measurement. Classified sentiment is required before interpreting AI visibility.

Methodology

  1. This report is a benchmark-based analysis of Exodus AI visibility in the Crypto Wallets category for October 2026. It is not a client implementation case study.
  2. The reporting window is October 2026. The baseline comparison month is May 2026.
  3. Six AI platforms were tracked: ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Google AI Mode.
  4. The October 2026 benchmark comprised 671 qualified observations drawn from 800 source prompt-surface observations.
  5. The competitor universe includes ten tracked brands: Best Wallet, BlueWallet, Coinbase Wallet, Electrum, Exodus, Ledger, MetaMask, Trezor, Trust Wallet, and Zengo.
  6. Three public high-intent clusters were defined: C01 Best and Top Crypto Wallet Discovery, C02 Crypto Wallet Comparison and Alternatives, and C03 Crypto Wallet Pricing, Fees and Cost Evaluation. Only C01 carried qualified observations in October 2026.
  7. Stage 0 extraction retained the query, AI surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and, where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources.
  8. A mention is counted when Exodus appears in an AI response to a qualified prompt. A valid recommendation is counted when Exodus receives a positive recommendation with a rank between 1 and 10.
  9. Top-three rate is the share of qualified observations where Exodus appears in the top three recommended positions. Rank-one rate is the share where Exodus is the first recommendation. Average recommended rank covers rank-eligible recommendations only.
  10. The May 2026 baseline used 1,425 qualified observations. The July through October 2026 runs used 800 collected prompts each. The collection methodology changed between May and July 2026, and the trend series should be read with that change in mind.
  11. Best Wallet, Electrum, and BlueWallet have small absolute valid recommendation counts in October 2026. Their percentages should be interpreted with that small-count caveat in mind.
  12. The benchmark does not establish causality. Movement in a single metric does not by itself establish why that movement occurred.

Understanding AI search visibility.

AI search experiences create answers by pulling information from many places online and summarizing it into a single response.

What Is AI Citation Intelligence?
AI citation intelligence is the process of measuring where AI platforms source their information and how frequently a brand is mentioned or referenced in AI-generated responses. Because LLMs synthesize across multiple sources, the sites and brands that appear repeatedly tend to influence how a topic or company is framed. This practice focuses on identifying which sources shape AI outputs and tracking brand visibility across different AI systems.
What Is Citation Architecture?
Citation architecture describes the set of sources that consistently inform how AI systems talk about a brand, product, or topic. LLMs draw from websites, articles, forums, and public discussion, and the sources they rely on most often become the backbone of their answers. Building strong citation architecture means ensuring that accurate, credible, high authority sources are the ones most likely to shape the way AI tools summarize and recommend a brand.
What Is Generative Engine Optimization?
Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of improving the chances that AI systems use and cite your brand or content when generating answers. While traditional SEO is centered on ranking pages in search results, GEO focuses on how LLMs retrieve, interpret, and combine information when responding to a question. The objective is to strengthen the content and sources AI systems rely on, so your brand is treated as a trusted reference in AI responses.
What Is AI Share of Voice?
AI share of voice tracks how often a brand appears in AI-generated answers compared with competitors in the same category. It reflects visibility across AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity. Monitoring AI share of voice helps organizations see whether AI systems consistently include and recommend their brand for key queries or whether competitor brands are showing up more often.
