Executive Summary

Procurify enters September 2026 with a valid recommendation coverage of 26.74%, placing it third in the category behind Coupa (40.87%) and SAP Ariba (38.91%). The benchmark shows Procurify is mentioned in 45.22% of qualified AI answers, meaning the brand appears in nearly half of all tracked responses but converts to a valid recommendation in only about one in four. This gap between raw mention presence and valid recommendation coverage is the defining feature of Procurify's current AI visibility position.

The sentiment picture is positive. Procurify recorded 155 positive mentions, 53 neutral mentions, and zero negative mentions across 460 qualified observations, producing a net sentiment score of 0.7452. No negative framing was detected in the September 2026 dataset. This suggests AI systems reference Procurify in favorable or neutral terms when the brand appears, but do not consistently elevate it into shortlists or top placements.

Procurify's strongest platform signal comes from Google AI Overviews, where it recorded a 44.04% valid recommendation coverage rate and a 55.05% raw mention presence rate. Google AI Mode also showed meaningful recommendation activity, with a 39.34% valid recommendation coverage rate. These two Google surfaces account for the majority of Procurify's recommendation volume. On ChatGPT, Procurify's valid recommendation coverage drops to 11.69%, and on Copilot it falls to 10.53%. Perplexity showed a 5.88% valid recommendation coverage rate with only one valid recommendation.

The clearest gap is in top-three placement. Procurify's top-three rate of 12.17% is less than half of SAP Ariba's 30.43% and roughly one-third of Coupa's 34.57%. While Procurify appears in shortlists more often than mid-tier competitors like GEP SMART (11.96%) and Ivalua (7.61%), it does not convert presence into prominent recommendation positions at the rate of the category leaders.

The benchmark also shows that Procurify's rank-one rate of 3.91% is the third-highest in the category, behind Coupa (17.39%) and SAP Ariba (13.04%). This indicates that when Procurify does earn a recommendation, it occasionally earns the top position. However, the absolute number of rank-one placements (18 out of 460 observations) remains small relative to the category leaders.

The category-wide context matters. The September 2026 benchmark recorded a broad contraction in recommendation coverage across eight of ten tracked brands compared to the July 2026 baseline. Procurify's valid recommendation coverage fell from 45.4% in July 2026 to 26.7% in September 2026, a decline of 18.7 percentage points. This decline was driven by both weaker presence (down 10.2 points to 45.2%) and a weaker top-three rate (down 5.3 points to 12.2%). The contraction was category-wide, not isolated to Procurify.

What Procurify Is Winning

Questions This Section Answers

  • Where does Procurify rank first in AI procurement software recommendations?
  • Which platforms show the strongest recommendation coverage for Procurify?

Procurify's strongest evidence-backed win is its rank-one rate of 3.91%, the third-highest in the category. This means that in 18 of 460 qualified observations, AI systems placed Procurify as the first recommended procurement software option. While this is well behind Coupa (80 rank-one placements) and SAP Ariba (60), it exceeds GEP SMART (4), Ivalua (4), Jaggaer (1), and Kissflow Procurement (0).

Procurify also holds a positive sentiment position with zero negative mentions across the entire September 2026 dataset. Its net sentiment score of 0.7452 is higher than Coupa (0.5907) and SAP Ariba (0.5985), though lower than Precoro (0.8000) and Zip (0.8427). The absence of negative framing suggests AI systems do not associate Procurify with cautionary or critical language in the tracked prompt universe.

On Google AI Overviews, Procurify recorded a 44.04% valid recommendation coverage rate, which is the second-highest among all platforms for the brand. This surface appears to be Procurify's strongest recommendation environment. Google AI Mode also showed a 39.34% valid recommendation coverage rate, indicating that Google's AI-powered search surfaces are more likely to recommend Procurify than ChatGPT, Copilot, or Perplexity.

Procurify's average recommended rank of 3.70 is competitive with mid-tier peers. GEP SMART recorded 3.45, Ivalua recorded 3.84, and Jaggaer recorded 4.28. This suggests that when Procurify earns a recommendation, it typically appears in the middle of the shortlist rather than at the bottom.

Where Procurify Has the Clearest AI Visibility Gaps

Questions This Section Answers

  • Why does Procurify get mentioned in AI answers without being recommended?
  • On which platforms does Procurify lose the most recommendation coverage to Coupa and SAP Ariba?

The clearest gap is recommendation conversion. Procurify is mentioned in 45.22% of qualified AI answers but receives a valid recommendation in only 26.74%. This means that in roughly 18.5 percentage points of observations where Procurify appears, AI systems mention the brand without recommending it. Coupa and SAP Ariba show much smaller gaps between presence and recommendation, with Coupa at 93.48% presence and 40.87% recommendation coverage, and SAP Ariba at 89.35% presence and 38.91% recommendation coverage.

The top-three gap is equally significant. Procurify's top-three rate of 12.17% means the brand appears in the top three recommended options in only about one in eight qualified observations. SAP Ariba's top-three rate is 30.43%, and Coupa's is 34.57%. This suggests that when AI systems build shortlists, Procurify is more often included as a secondary or tertiary option rather than a primary recommendation.

Platform-specific gaps are pronounced. On ChatGPT, Procurify's valid recommendation coverage is 11.69%, compared to Coupa's 23.38% and SAP Ariba's 24.68%. On Copilot, Procurify's valid recommendation coverage is 10.53%, while Coupa and SAP Ariba both recorded 24.56%. These gaps suggest that Procurify's recommendation presence is concentrated on Google surfaces and underrepresented on conversational AI platforms.

The benchmark also shows that Procurify's presence declined by 10.2 percentage points from July 2026 to September 2026, from 55.4% to 45.2%. This decline in raw mention presence suggests that AI systems are surfacing Procurify less often in qualified answers, not just recommending it less often. The combination of declining presence and declining recommendation coverage indicates a broad reduction in Procurify's AI visibility footprint across the category.

The category-wide contraction provides context. Eight of ten tracked brands posted declines in valid recommendation coverage beyond normal variation from July to September 2026. Procurify's 18.7-point decline was the third-largest in the category, behind Coupa (24.7 points) and SAP Ariba (23.7 points). The benchmark data describes the output distribution but does not explain why the contraction occurred.

Biggest Opportunity

Questions This Section Answers

  • How can Procurify convert its existing AI mention presence into top-three shortlist placements?
  • Which layers of the AI recommendation process should Procurify target to close the conversion gap?

Procurify's biggest opportunity is converting its existing raw mention presence into valid recommendations within the Brand Recommendation cluster. The brand already appears in 45.22% of qualified AI answers, which means AI systems are surfacing Procurify as a relevant option in the procurement software category. The gap is in recommendation conversion: only 26.74% of qualified observations result in a valid recommendation.

Closing this gap would require targeted work on the prompt, page, and citation layers that AI systems use to form recommendations. The benchmark shows that Procurify's strongest recommendation performance is on Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, suggesting that the brand's public evidence layer is more retrievable or persuasive on those surfaces. Extending that performance to ChatGPT, Copilot, and Perplexity would require understanding which sources those platforms retrieve and how Procurify is framed in those sources.

The specific opportunity is to increase top-three placement. Procurify's top-three rate of 12.17% is less than half of SAP Ariba's 30.43%. If Procurify could convert even a portion of its existing presence into top-three placements, it would move closer to the category leaders in recommendation prominence. The benchmark identifies where attention is warranted; a company-level analysis is needed to explain why the gap exists and which prompts, competitors, and sources are driving it.

Competitive Landscape

Questions This Section Answers

  • How does Procurify's top-three and rank-one rate compare to Coupa, SAP Ariba, and mid-tier competitors?

Why This Matters

Questions This Section Answers

  • What does the gap between AI mention presence and recommendation mean for procurement software buyers?
  • How does the category-wide contraction affect Procurify's position relative to competitors?

AI systems are increasingly where procurement software buyers form their initial vendor shortlists. The September 2026 benchmark shows that Procurify is visible in nearly half of all qualified AI answers but is only recommended in about one in four. This means that in a significant share of buyer discovery moments, AI systems mention Procurify without including it in the recommendation set. For a category where buyers often start with AI-generated shortlists, this gap between presence and recommendation represents a missed opportunity to be considered.

The benchmark also shows that the category contracted across two consecutive months, with eight of ten brands posting declines in valid recommendation coverage. Procurify's decline was part of this broader pattern, but the brand's position relative to competitors remained stable. The next move is not to reverse the category-wide contraction but to improve Procurify's recommendation conversion within the prompts and platforms where the brand already appears. That requires targeted correction of the prompt, page, and citation layers that AI systems use to form recommendations.

Questions This Section Answers

  • Why is classified sentiment important when measuring AI visibility for procurement software brands?
  • What does Procurify's zero negative mentions and 53 neutral mentions indicate about how AI systems frame the brand?

Sentiment Score = (positive mentions × 1 + neutral mentions × 0 + negative mentions × -1) / total mentions

Procurify's sentiment score for September 2026 is 0.7452, calculated from 155 positive mentions, 53 neutral mentions, and zero negative mentions across 208 total mentions. This score indicates that AI systems frame Procurify positively or neutrally in nearly all cases where the brand appears.

This matters because unclassified mention counts are misleading. A positive recommendation, a neutral reference, a cautionary mention, and a competitor-displaced mention are not equal. Counting all mentions as wins is bad measurement. Procurify's zero negative mentions is a strong signal that AI systems do not associate the brand with cautionary or critical language in the tracked prompt universe. However, the presence of 53 neutral mentions suggests that in roughly one in four appearances, AI systems reference Procurify without positive framing. Classified sentiment is required before interpreting AI visibility because it distinguishes between brands that are recommended positively and brands that are merely mentioned.

Methodology

  1. This report is a benchmark-based analysis of Procurify's AI recommendation visibility in the procurement software category for September 2026. It is not a client implementation case study.
  2. The reporting window is September 2026, with comparisons to the July 2026 baseline and August 2026 interim measurement where available.
  3. Six AI platforms were tracked: ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Google AI Mode. All six platforms had at least one qualified observation in the September 2026 dataset.
  4. The September 2026 benchmark began with 800 prompt-surface observations and produced 460 qualified observations after relevance filtering and qualification. The August 2026 reading recorded 476 qualified observations, and the July 2026 reading recorded 372.
  5. The competitor universe includes ten tracked brands: Coupa, GEP SMART, Ivalua, Jaggaer, Kissflow Procurement, Precoro, Procurify, SAP Ariba, Tradeshift, and Zip.
  6. All 460 qualified observations in September 2026 fell into the Brand Recommendation cluster. No observations qualified for the Pricing & Value or Multi-Brand Comparison clusters. The public benchmark can currently answer which brands AI systems recommend for procurement software needs but cannot yet answer how AI systems frame price, value, or head-to-head comparisons.
  7. The benchmark uses a stage 0 extraction process that retains the query, AI surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and, where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources. Source presence is evidence about the information environment and is not automatically proof that the source caused the recommendation.
  8. A mention is defined as any appearance of the brand in a qualified AI answer, regardless of whether the brand is recommended. A valid recommendation is defined as an observation where the dataset explicitly marks the brand as a recommended option. Negative, neutral, cautionary, comparison-anchor, and listed-only mentions are not counted as valid recommendations unless the dataset explicitly marks them as valid recommendations.
  9. Ranking interpretation: top-three rate measures the share of qualified observations where the brand appears among the top three recommended options. Rank-one rate measures the share of qualified observations where the brand is the first recommendation. Average recommended rank covers rank-eligible recommendations only.
  10. The September 2026 benchmark recorded a category-wide contraction in recommendation coverage, with eight of ten tracked brands posting declines beyond normal variation from July 2026. The benchmark data describes the output distribution but does not explain why the contraction occurred.
  11. Small-count movement: Tradeshift and Kissflow Procurement operate from very small valid-recommendation counts (0 and 8 in September 2026), so their coverage percentages are sensitive to single-answer changes. Procurify's 123 valid recommendations provide a more stable base for interpretation.
  12. Limitations: This public benchmark does not measure market share, attributable sales, every possible AI response, organic-search ranking, social mention volume, private or sponsored channels, or causality from a metric movement alone. Price, value, and head-to-head comparison have no public signal in this data series.

Understanding AI search visibility.

AI search experiences create answers by pulling information from many places online and summarizing it into a single response.

What Is AI Citation Intelligence?
AI citation intelligence is the process of measuring where AI platforms source their information and how frequently a brand is mentioned or referenced in AI-generated responses. Because LLMs synthesize across multiple sources, the sites and brands that appear repeatedly tend to influence how a topic or company is framed. This practice focuses on identifying which sources shape AI outputs and tracking brand visibility across different AI systems.
What Is Citation Architecture?
Citation architecture describes the set of sources that consistently inform how AI systems talk about a brand, product, or topic. LLMs draw from websites, articles, forums, and public discussion, and the sources they rely on most often become the backbone of their answers. Building strong citation architecture means ensuring that accurate, credible, high authority sources are the ones most likely to shape the way AI tools summarize and recommend a brand.
What Is Generative Engine Optimization?
Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of improving the chances that AI systems use and cite your brand or content when generating answers. While traditional SEO is centered on ranking pages in search results, GEO focuses on how LLMs retrieve, interpret, and combine information when responding to a question. The objective is to strengthen the content and sources AI systems rely on, so your brand is treated as a trusted reference in AI responses.
What Is AI Share of Voice?
AI share of voice tracks how often a brand appears in AI-generated answers compared with competitors in the same category. It reflects visibility across AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity. Monitoring AI share of voice helps organizations see whether AI systems consistently include and recommend their brand for key queries or whether competitor brands are showing up more often.
