Answer Capsule
Adecco holds the third-strongest recommendation position in the Recruiting Agencies category, with 33.87% valid recommendation coverage in September 2026, behind Robert Half at 46.68% and Randstad at 39.06%. Adecco is visible and positively framed, appearing in 53.00% of qualified observations, but it converts that presence into a valid recommendation less often than the two brands ahead of it. Its clearest strength is top-three placement, where it ranks third at 20.91%, and its clearest weakness is first-choice strength, where its 2.43% rank-one rate trails Robert Half by roughly ninefold. The clearest opportunity is closing the gap between raw presence and recommendation conversion, particularly on the platforms where Adecco is seen but not selected.

Executive Summary
Adecco enters September 2026 as the third-ranked brand in the Recruiting Agencies category on valid recommendation coverage, at 33.87%. That places it behind Robert Half at 46.68% and Randstad at 39.06%, and ahead of Insight Global at 28.36%. The benchmark shows Adecco holding a stable position rather than a rising or falling one, with coverage down 2.0 points from its July 2026 baseline of 35.9%, a movement the benchmark classifies as within normal month-to-month variation.
The gap between presence and recommendation is the central story for Adecco. The brand appears in 53.00% of qualified observations, the third-highest raw mention presence rate in the tracked set, but it receives a valid recommendation in only 33.87% of observations. That means a meaningful share of the responses that name Adecco do not convert that mention into a recommendation. Robert Half, by contrast, converts 64.02% presence into 46.68% coverage, and Randstad converts 59.64% presence into 39.06% coverage.
Adecco's framing is strongly positive. The dataset records 251 positive mentions, 76 neutral mentions, and zero negative mentions, producing a net sentiment score of 0.7676. No cautionary or negative framing appears anywhere in the Adecco record for September 2026. The weakness is not reputation; it is selection.
The strongest platform signal for Adecco is Google AI Mode, where it holds 32.68% valid recommendation coverage across 153 observations, the largest single-platform observation base in the dataset. Its weakest platform signal is Copilot, where coverage sits at 38.18% but on a much smaller observation base of 55, and where its rank-one rate falls to zero.
The clearest cluster-level gap is structural rather than competitive. All 617 qualified observations in September 2026 fell into the Brand Recommendation class. The comparison and pricing clusters carried no qualified observations for any tracked brand, so Adecco's position in head-to-head and cost-related AI answers cannot be assessed from this benchmark cycle.
What Adecco Is Winning
Questions This Section Answers
- Where does Adecco rank strongest against its competitors in AI recommendations?
- Which platform produces Adecco's most durable recommendation result?
Adecco's strongest evidence-backed win is its top-three placement rate. At 20.91%, Adecco ranks third in the category, ahead of Randstad's 21.39% by a narrow margin and well clear of Korn Ferry and Aerotek, both at 13.29%. This means that when Adecco does enter a recommendation set, it frequently lands in a prominent position rather than at the tail of a list.
Adecco also holds the third-highest raw mention presence rate in the tracked set at 53.00%, behind only Robert Half at 64.02% and Randstad at 59.64%. The brand is consistently named in AI-generated answers about recruiting agencies, which gives it a broad base from which to convert mentions into recommendations.
The brand's framing quality is a genuine asset. With 251 positive mentions against zero negative mentions, Adecco carries a net sentiment score of 0.7676. No competitor in the tracked set shows negative framing of Adecco, and the benchmark records no cautionary language attached to the brand.
On platform, Google AI Mode is Adecco's strongest surface. The brand holds 32.68% valid recommendation coverage there across 153 observations, with 31 top-three placements and an average recommended rank of 3.32. That is the largest observation base of any platform in the dataset, which makes the result more durable than a small-sample reading.
Where Adecco Has the Clearest AI Visibility Gaps
Questions This Section Answers
- How far behind is Adecco in first-choice recommendations compared with Robert Half and Randstad?
- Where does Adecco appear in recommendations without ever being named first?
The clearest gap for Adecco is first-choice strength. Its rank-one rate of 2.43% means it is the first-named agency in only 15 of 617 qualified observations. Robert Half is first-named in 141 observations, a rate of 22.85%, and Randstad is first-named in 47 observations, a rate of 7.62%. Adecco is present in the conversation and frequently lands in the top three, but it is rarely the answer.
That pattern shows up most sharply on Copilot. Adecco holds 38.18% valid recommendation coverage on Copilot, which is higher than its overall coverage, but its rank-one rate on that platform is zero. The brand is being recommended on Copilot without ever being placed first. The same pattern appears on Gemini, where Adecco's rank-one rate is 1.18% against 36.47% coverage.
The second gap is conversion efficiency. Adecco's presence rate of 53.00% and its coverage rate of 33.87% leave a 19.13-point spread between being mentioned and being recommended. Robert Half's spread is 17.34 points and Randstad's is 20.58 points, so Adecco's conversion sits between the two leaders rather than clearly behind them. The more consequential comparison is absolute: Adecco is mentioned in 327 observations but receives a valid recommendation in only 209 of them.
The third gap is scale against the leader. Adecco's 209 valid recommendations compare with Robert Half's 288 and Randstad's 241. Adecco's average recommended rank of 3.05 is better than Randstad's 3.35, which means that when Adecco is recommended, it tends to be placed higher than Randstad is. The constraint is not placement quality; it is how often the brand enters the recommendation set at all.
Biggest Opportunity
Adecco's single clearest opportunity is converting its existing presence into first-position recommendations on the platforms where it is already visible but never selected first.
The brand already appears in more than half of qualified observations and already holds a top-three rate above 20%. The missing piece is the rank-one position, which sits at 2.43% overall and at zero on Copilot. Because Adecco's average recommended rank of 3.05 is stronger than Randstad's, the brand does not need to improve where it lands when it is chosen. It needs to be chosen more often, and chosen first more often, on prompts where it currently appears as a secondary mention.
The highest-value prompt territory for that work is the discovery and evaluation cluster, which carries all 617 qualified observations in this cycle. Prompts in that cluster include broad category queries such as "staffing agency," "recruiting agency," and "executive search firm," along with intent-driven questions such as "Is it worth getting a recruiter to find a job?" and "What is the best staffing agency to work for?" These are the prompts where a first-position recommendation carries the most weight in a buyer's shortlist decision.
Competitive Landscape
Questions This Section Answers
- How does Adecco's rank-one rate compare with the rest of the tracked brands?
- Which brands lead on top-three placement and average recommended rank in the recruiting agencies category?
Robert Half holds dominant recommendation power in the Recruiting Agencies category, with Randstad as the strongest challenger and Adecco as the leading brand in the second tier. The table below shows where each tracked brand sits on recommendation-stage strength.
Brand | Top-3 rate | Rank-1 rate | Avg recommended rank | Sentiment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Robert Half | 31.60% | 22.85% | 2 | 0.8278 |
Randstad | 21.39% | 7.62% | 3 | 0.7989 |
Adecco | 20.91% | 2.43% | 3 | 0.7676 |
13.29% | 7.62% | 3 | 0.8291 | |
Aerotek | 13.29% | 3.24% | 4 | 0.8913 |
Insight Global | 12.32% | 1.62% | 4 | 0.8982 |
10.37% | 1.94% | 4 | 0.7671 | |
Heidrick & Struggles | 7.62% | 0.32% | 4 | 0.8129 |
7.46% | 1.62% | 4 | 0.7797 | |
6.81% | 0.32% | 4 | 0.8038 |
Average recommended rank covers rank-eligible recommendations only.
Adecco sits third on top-three rate and third on valid recommendation coverage, but ninth on rank-one rate. The table shows a brand that competes for shortlist inclusion at a level close to Randstad while competing for first position at a level closer to the bottom of the tracked set.
Prompt Evidence
Questions This Section Answers
- What do the prompt-level results show about Adecco's coverage versus first-position performance across platforms?
Google AI Mode / Brand Recommendation Prompt: "staffing agencies" Result: Adecco appeared with 32.68% valid recommendation coverage on Google AI Mode across 153 observations, its strongest platform result in the dataset.
Copilot / Brand Recommendation Prompt: "recruiting agency" Result: Adecco held 38.18% valid recommendation coverage on Copilot but recorded a 0.00% rank-one rate, appearing in recommendations without ever being placed first.
Gemini / Brand Recommendation Prompt: "Is it worth getting a recruiter to find a job?" Result: Adecco recorded 36.47% valid recommendation coverage on Gemini with a 1.18% rank-one rate, again showing presence without first-position conversion.
Google AI Overviews / Brand Recommendation Prompt: "What is the best staffing agency to work for?" Result: Adecco recorded 36.08% valid recommendation coverage on Google AI Overviews with a 0.63% rank-one rate, the lowest first-position rate of any platform where the brand has meaningful coverage.

Phase 4: Citation / Authority Layer Development Build the public evidence layer that AI systems retrieve from, so that Adecco's category authority is easy to find and easy to synthesize into a recommendation.
Phase 5: Monthly AI Visibility and Recommendation Tracking Track Adecco's rank-one rate and recommendation coverage month over month against Robert Half and Randstad, with platform-level detail on Copilot, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews.
Why This Matters
Adecco is already in the room. The brand appears in more than half of the AI answers that discuss recruiting agencies, and its framing is uniformly positive. What the September 2026 benchmark shows is that presence and recommendation are not the same thing, and that Adecco's constraint is the second one. A buyer who asks an AI system for the best recruiting agency may see Adecco named, but the brand is first-named in only 15 of 617 qualified observations.
The next move is not broader visibility. It is targeted correction of the prompt, page, and citation layers that determine whether a mention becomes a recommendation, and whether a recommendation becomes the first one. That work is specific, measurable, and trackable against the same benchmark that produced this report.

Sentiment Score
Questions This Section Answers
- Why does Adecco's positive sentiment score not translate into stronger recommendation coverage?
- What is the difference between a neutral mention and a positive recommendation in Adecco's record?
Sentiment Score = (positive mentions × 1 + neutral mentions × 0 + negative mentions × -1) / total mentions
For Adecco in September 2026, that calculation is (251 × 1 + 76 × 0 + 0 × -1) / 327, which produces a net sentiment score of 0.7676.
This matters because unclassified mention counts are misleading. A brand that appears in 327 observations looks identical whether those mentions are enthusiastic recommendations, neutral references in a list, or cautionary notes. Adecco's record contains no negative mentions at all, which is a genuine strength, but the 76 neutral mentions are not equivalent to the 251 positive ones. A neutral reference means the brand was named without being endorsed.
Share of voice is a diagnostic metric, not a business KPI. Knowing that Adecco appears in 53.00% of observations tells you the brand is visible. It does not tell you whether that visibility is converting into a buyer shortlist. A positive recommendation, a neutral reference, a cautionary mention, and a competitor-displaced mention are not equal outcomes, and counting all mentions as wins is bad measurement. Classified sentiment is required before interpreting AI visibility, because the difference between being named and being recommended is the difference between awareness and selection.

Methodology
- This report is a benchmark-based analysis of Adecco's position in the Recruiting Agencies category, produced from the LLM Authority Index AI Market Discovery Index for September 2026. It is not a client engagement result.
- The reporting window is September 2026, compared against the July 2026 baseline. August 2026 recorded no brand-level recommendation signal for any tracked brand and is treated as an instrument-level interruption rather than a competitive outcome.
- Six AI surface families were tracked: ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Google AI Mode. All six were present in the qualified set.
- The September 2026 collection began with 800 prompt-surface observations and 510 unique questions. After qualification, 617 observations formed the public benchmark denominator.
- The competitor universe contains ten tracked brands: Robert Half, Adecco, Aerotek, Heidrick & Struggles, Insight Global, Kelly Services, Korn Ferry, ManpowerGroup, Randstad, and Spencer Stuart.
- Three public clusters were defined: Best Recruiting Agencies, Discovery and Evaluation; Recruiting Agency Comparisons, Competitive Evaluation; and Recruiting Agency Pricing, Cost and Fee Research. Only the first cluster carried qualified observations in September 2026.
- Stage 0 extraction produced the prompt-level records that retain query, surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and, where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources.
- A mention is counted when a tracked brand is named in a qualified observation, regardless of whether it is recommended.
- A valid recommendation is counted only when the dataset marks the brand as recommended or shortlisted. Neutral, cautionary, comparison-anchor, and listed-only mentions are not counted as valid recommendations.
- Top-three rate and rank-one rate are calculated against the 617 qualified observations. Average recommended rank covers rank-eligible recommendations only.
- Source presence in the evidence layer is treated as information about the environment, not as proof that a source caused a recommendation.
- The benchmark does not measure market share, sales attributable to AI-driven discovery, organic-search ranking, or causality from a metric movement alone. The absence of pricing and comparison observations means this report should be read as a directional signal on brand recommendation discovery.
