AI Chatbots in AI Search: The Biggest AI Visibility Problems and How We'd Fix Them

Mark HuntleyBy Mark HuntleyFounder and CEO

Key Takeaways

  • WATI has the strongest endorsement rate in the peer set, while Yellow.ai has the widest reach but a weaker recommendation share.
  • Interakt sits in the middle with solid visibility, while Gupshup and Haptik are mentioned often but rarely endorsed.
  • Gallabox, Engati and Geta.ai have very limited visibility, so their first challenge is reach rather than recommendation quality.
  • The main priorities are verifying disputed company facts, reviewing owned pages, and checking third-party sources before proposing any corrections.

Companies covered: WATI, Engati, Haptik, Geta.ai, Gupshup, Gallabox, Interakt, Yellow.ai

Answer Capsule

The November 2026 AI Chatbots benchmark compares 8 companies across 159 AI answers that met its inclusion rules. WATI recorded 40 mentions and 20 recommendations (12.58% of the answers). Being mentioned means appearing in an answer; being recommended means receiving an affirmative endorsement.

We examine each company, compare the available monthly results, and set out a five-step plan for improving the information AI systems can draw on. The work starts with measuring visibility and checking conflicting claims, then moves to company pages, relevant publishers and buyer questions. The cited pages need review before any correction request, and the research does not establish what caused recommendation differences or promise future gains.

The peer set splits into two groups. WATI and Yellow.ai both appear in a large share of answers, but WATI earns far more affirmative endorsements relative to its reach, while Yellow.ai's mentions carry little positive endorsement. Interakt sits in the middle with solid reach and modest endorsement.

Gupshup and Haptik appear regularly but are rarely endorsed. Gallabox, Engati and Geta.ai are effectively absent from the conversation, so their problem is reach before it is endorsement. Because an answer can name several companies, these figures describe how often each brand appears and is endorsed, not how the market ranks them overall. The agency would treat reach and endorsement as two scorecard columns and set separate targets for each.

The monthly samples differ in size, so the movement shown should be read as recorded change rather than like-for-like performance. WATI's mention and recommendation counts both fell in the latest month, and Yellow.ai's recommendation count dropped even as its mentions rose.

Haptik moved from no recommendations to a small number, while Gupshup's mentions held steady but its recommendations halved. The smaller companies stayed near zero throughout. The agency would document sample size and inclusion rules alongside each monthly snapshot so future comparisons are clearly qualified.

WATI's reach is strong and its endorsement rate is the best in the peer set, so the priority is protecting that position rather than chasing volume. The conflicting claims about its nationality and headquarters are high priority because they touch basic identity facts buyers may check.

The agency would fact-check those claims against current primary sources before proposing any correction, and review the pricing page for accuracy. A conditional page brief would follow only if verification confirms a gap.

Engati

Questions This Section Answers

  • What measured visibility pattern and review priority does Engati have in AI Chatbots?

Engati recorded 1 mentions (0.63%) and 0 recommendations (0.00%) across 159 answers included in the benchmark. Top 3 placements numbered 0; first-place recommendations numbered 0. Framing among its mentions was 0 positive, 1 neutral and 0 negative.

Selected third-party review candidate: https://engati.ai/blog/send-bulk-whatsapp-messages.

Engati appears in a single answer and received no endorsement, so the first task is understanding why it is barely part of the conversation rather than setting a performance target. With no conflicting claims recorded, there is no fact-checking queue to work through.

The agency would review the selected blog page against current primary sources and prepare a brief only if verification supports a change. A baseline scorecard would track whether reach improves before endorsement is addressed.

Haptik

Questions This Section Answers

  • What measured visibility pattern and review priority does Haptik have in AI Chatbots?

Haptik recorded 25 mentions (15.72%) and 3 recommendations (1.89%) across 159 answers included in the benchmark. Top 3 placements numbered 2; first-place recommendations numbered 2. Framing among its mentions was 10 positive, 15 neutral and 0 negative.

Selected third-party review candidate: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haptik.

Haptik's mentions rose sharply in the latest sample and it gained a small number of recommendations, though most of its appearances remain neutral framing. That gap between being named and being endorsed is the main opportunity.

With no conflicting claims recorded, the work is about strengthening how the company is described rather than correcting errors. The agency would review the homepage and the Wikipedia entry against primary sources, then prepare a conditional brief for any verified gap.

Geta.ai

Questions This Section Answers

  • What measured visibility pattern and review priority does Geta.ai have in AI Chatbots?

Geta.ai recorded 0 mentions (0.00%) and 0 recommendations (0.00%) across 159 answers included in the benchmark. Top 3 placements numbered 0; first-place recommendations numbered 0. Framing among its mentions was 0 positive, 0 neutral and 0 negative.

Geta.ai does not appear in any captured answer, so there is no reach or endorsement to interpret and no conflicting claims to resolve. The absence is an observation about this sample, not evidence about the company's market position.

The agency would first confirm the company is correctly identified in the tracking setup, then build a baseline scorecard so any future appearance can be measured. Content work would wait until there is a verified starting point.

Gupshup's mentions held steady but its recommendations halved, leaving endorsement as the weaker side of its profile. The critical conflict is a case of mistaken identity, with one answer describing an unrelated restaurant rather than the messaging platform.

That kind of entity confusion can distort how the brand is understood, so the agency would verify the company's identity facts against primary sources before proposing any correction. A conditional page brief for the main site would follow verification.

Gallabox

Gallabox has very little reach, and its single recommendation came without a top placement, so endorsement and position are both thin. The counts are too small to read as a trend.

The agency would treat this as an early baseline rather than a performance signal. It would review the selected blog page against current primary sources and prepare a brief only where verification supports a change, while tracking whether reach grows in later samples.

Interakt has solid reach and a modest endorsement rate, with most mentions neutral rather than positive. That suggests the brand is known to the answers but not strongly advocated.

With no conflicting claims recorded, the work is about strengthening how the company is described rather than correcting errors. The agency would review the main site and the Shopify listing against primary sources, then prepare a conditional brief for any verified gap.

Yellow.ai

Yellow.ai has the widest reach in the peer set but a much smaller endorsement share, and most of its mentions are neutral. The conflicting claims about supported languages and free-plan limits are high priority because they concern product specifics buyers may rely on.

The agency would fact-check those claims against current primary sources before proposing any correction, and review the about page and the pricing article. A conditional brief would follow only where verification confirms a gap.

The CiteWorks five-step improvement plan

Step 1. Establish the baseline

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to establish the baseline for AI Chatbots?

Build a scorecard that records each company's reach, endorsement and placement separately, with the sample size and inclusion rules noted beside every monthly snapshot. This gives the client a traceable starting point and makes clear that later comparisons are qualified by sample differences.

Each record should carry an owner, an evidence requirement and a review status, so the client can see what has been checked and what remains open.

Step 2. Verify disputed facts

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to verify disputed facts for AI Chatbots?

AI answers contained 25 conflicting claims across 3 companies. Another 0 possible conflicts were excluded because their company matches were uncertain. The conflicting claims need fact-checking before any corrections are proposed.

Work through the recorded conflicts company by company, starting with the identity and product-specific claims that carry the highest priority. Each disputed claim needs its entity, date and source resolved against current primary sources before anyone decides whether a correction is warranted.

Ambiguous company matches stay outside the queue. The output is a register of confirmed issues, no-change decisions and open questions, not a set of edits.

Step 3. Review owned pages

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to review owned pages for AI Chatbots?

Assign page briefs to the supplied owned-page candidates, with each brief tied to a specific verified fact rather than a general impression. Reviewers check the current page against primary sources before recommending any change.

The output separates confirmed edits from no-change decisions, so the client can see what was actually verified. No page is assumed to be wrong because an AI answer disagreed with it.

Step 4. Review third-party sources

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to review third-party sources for AI Chatbots?

Prepare source-review packages for the relevant third-party pages, checking current contents against primary sources before any request is made. A citation in an answer does not show that the page influenced it, so requests should rest on verified inaccuracy, not on citation counts.

The output records requests sent, responses received and decisions to take no action.

Step 5. Address buyer questions and measure again

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to address buyer questions and measure again for AI Chatbots?

Turn the observed buyer questions into content briefs that answer them directly, using verified company facts. These briefs are proposed work, not evidence that the questions reflect search demand or that pages are missing.

After delivery, measure again with a fresh scorecard and report completed work separately from answer outcomes, noting the comparability limits of each sample.

These pages are candidates for review, not confirmed errors. Citation appearances are counted across the captured answers and are not added again for each company.

The publisher list should be prioritized by relevance and verifiability rather than by citation counts alone. The Wikipedia entry for Haptik and the Twilio WhatsApp page are the most-cited candidates, but a citation does not show that the page shaped an answer.

Several candidates concern Yellow.ai and Gupshup, including pages that appear to describe an unrelated restaurant under the Gupshup name. Reviewers should confirm which entity each page actually covers before any request.

The agency would check current page contents against primary sources first, then prepare evidence-backed requests only where a verified inaccuracy exists.

Record work completed separately from measured answer outcomes and comparability limits

Start with the baseline scorecard and the fact-review register, because the identity and product-specific conflicts affect how buyers may understand the leading brands. WATI and Yellow.ai carry the highest-priority claims and should be verified first.

Next, prepare page briefs and publisher requests only where verification supports them, keeping confirmed edits separate from no-change decisions. Buyer-question content follows, built from observed questions and verified facts.

A fresh scorecard at the end records completed work separately from answer outcomes, with sample differences noted. No outcome is promised.

  • What do the AI Chatbots sample and source-review limits allow us to conclude?

This report covers 2026-11. The exact dates when the original AI answers were collected have not been verified. The visibility rates use 159 answers that met the benchmark's inclusion rules. A company is recommended only when the answer both endorses it and uses positive wording. Top 3 and first-place counts are part of those recommendations, not extra recommendations.

An answer can mention or recommend several companies, so company counts cannot be added to find the number of distinct answers. The net sentiment score is positive minus negative mentions, divided by all company mentions; it describes answer wording, not customer satisfaction.

The wider citation analysis covers 474 captured answers and 2700 appearances of cited URLs. Citation appearances across all captured answers differ from the number of benchmark answers citing a page and the number that also recommend a company. The current contents of cited pages and disputed company claims still need independent verification.

The answer samples differ between months. These comparisons show how the recorded results changed; they do not establish why they changed.

These results describe how often each company was named and endorsed across the included answers, not customer satisfaction or market share. An answer can name several companies, so counts cannot be added to find distinct answers, and placement figures sit inside the recommendation totals rather than beside them.

The monthly samples differ, so comparisons show recorded change without establishing why it happened. The exact collection dates of the original answers remain unverified, and cited pages and disputed claims still need independent checking.

The proposed work is a baseline scorecard, a fact-review register, page and source briefs, and buyer-question content, with a fresh measurement at the end. These are proposed steps, not guarantees of improved visibility.

Understanding AI search visibility.

AI search experiences create answers by pulling information from many places online and summarizing it into a single response.

What Is AI Citation Intelligence?
AI citation intelligence is the process of measuring where AI platforms source their information and how frequently a brand is mentioned or referenced in AI-generated responses. Because LLMs synthesize across multiple sources, the sites and brands that appear repeatedly tend to influence how a topic or company is framed. This practice focuses on identifying which sources shape AI outputs and tracking brand visibility across different AI systems.
What Is Citation Architecture?
Citation architecture describes the set of sources that consistently inform how AI systems talk about a brand, product, or topic. LLMs draw from websites, articles, forums, and public discussion, and the sources they rely on most often become the backbone of their answers. Building strong citation architecture means ensuring that accurate, credible, high authority sources are the ones most likely to shape the way AI tools summarize and recommend a brand.
What Is Generative Engine Optimization?
Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of improving the chances that AI systems use and cite your brand or content when generating answers. While traditional SEO is centered on ranking pages in search results, GEO focuses on how LLMs retrieve, interpret, and combine information when responding to a question. The objective is to strengthen the content and sources AI systems rely on, so your brand is treated as a trusted reference in AI responses.
What Is AI Share of Voice?
AI share of voice tracks how often a brand appears in AI-generated answers compared with competitors in the same category. It reflects visibility across AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity. Monitoring AI share of voice helps organizations see whether AI systems consistently include and recommend their brand for key queries or whether competitor brands are showing up more often.
