Bankruptcy Lawyers in AI Search: The Biggest AI Visibility Problems and How We'd Fix Them

Mark HuntleyBy Mark HuntleyFounder and CEO
21 minutes read

Key Takeaways

  • Upsolve dominated the category with 77 mentions and 19 recommendations, far ahead of every peer.
  • Several firms were mentioned but never recommended, showing that visibility did not translate into endorsement.
  • The most important fact checks involved filing timelines and consultation fees, where conflicting AI claims could mislead buyers.
  • The recommended next steps were to build a baseline scorecard, verify disputed facts, and review owned and third-party pages.

Companies covered: Upsolve, Cibik Law, Heupel Law, Allmand Law, DebtStoppers, Tully Rinckey, John T. Orcutt, Fears Nachawati, Sasser Law Firm, The Semrad Law Firm

Answer Capsule

The November 2026 Bankruptcy Lawyers benchmark compares 10 companies across 122 AI answers that met its inclusion rules. Upsolve recorded 77 mentions and 19 recommendations (15.57% of the answers). Being mentioned means appearing in an answer; being recommended means receiving an affirmative endorsement.

We examine each company, compare the available monthly results, and set out a five-step plan for improving the information AI systems can draw on. The work starts with measuring visibility and checking conflicting claims, then moves to company pages, relevant publishers and buyer questions. The cited pages need review before any correction request, and the research does not establish what caused recommendation differences or promise future gains.

The peer set is unusually lopsided. One company, Upsolve, holds most of the mentions and nearly all of the recommendations, while several firms appear in answers without ever being endorsed. That gap between being named and being chosen is the central business problem for the rest of the field.

A second pattern matters just as much. Several firms are mentioned often enough to be visible but receive no affirmative endorsement at all, and their wording is largely neutral. Visibility without endorsement leaves a firm in the answer without giving a buyer a reason to act on it.

For the agency, this argues against chasing raw mention volume first. The more useful starting point is understanding why some firms are named but never recommended, and whether their own pages and third-party profiles give an answer engine anything concrete to endorse.

The monthly samples differ in size and composition, so the movement shown should be read as recorded change rather than like-for-like performance. Upsolve's counts eased across the later months while several smaller firms moved in and out of view.

Some firms that had recorded recommendations in October show none in November, and others that were absent appear again. Because each month is a separate selected sample, these shifts cannot be attributed to a cause from the printed history alone.

The practical use of this history is directional: it shows which firms are consistently present and which flicker. That distinction should shape where review effort goes first.

Upsolve remains the reference point for the category, with reach and endorsement far ahead of peers. Its recorded conflicts cluster around filing timelines, which are the kind of detail a prospective filer checks before committing.

We would propose a fact-check brief on those timeline claims, resolving entity, date and source before any correction is considered, plus a review of the owned page and the selected community discussion.

Cibik Law

Questions This Section Answers

  • What measured visibility pattern and review priority does Cibik Law have in Bankruptcy Lawyers?

Cibik Law was absent from the November answers after a small October presence, so there is no current endorsement pattern to explain. The useful first step is understanding what the firm offers and how it is described elsewhere before setting any target.

We would propose a conditional review of the firm's public descriptions and a baseline scorecard entry, with no correction work until a current primary source is verified.

Heupel Law

Questions This Section Answers

  • What measured visibility pattern and review priority does Heupel Law have in Bankruptcy Lawyers?

Heupel Law recorded 0 mentions (0.00%) and 0 recommendations (0.00%) across 122 answers included in the benchmark. Top 3 placements numbered 0; first-place recommendations numbered 0. Framing among its mentions was 0 positive, 0 neutral and 0 negative.

Heupel Law recorded no mentions and no recommendations in the November sample, and the same was true the month before. That is an absence of observation, not evidence of a problem with the firm.

We would propose confirming how the firm is described on its own and third-party pages, then recording a baseline entry so future movement can be read against a documented starting point.

Allmand Law

Questions This Section Answers

Allmand Law is named in answers but received no endorsements in November, despite positive and neutral wording around its mentions. The recorded conflicts concern its founding year, a detail that shapes how established the firm appears.

We would propose a fact-check on the founding date against a primary source, paired with a page brief on the firm's history and credentials. Any correction would wait on that verification.

DebtStoppers

DebtStoppers moved from no recorded endorsements to a modest set in November, alongside a small number of mentions. Its recorded conflicts concern consultation fees, a detail that directly affects a cost-conscious buyer's decision.

We would propose a priority fact-check on the fee claims, since a free-versus-paid discrepancy is the kind of conflict that can mislead a prospective client, followed by a page brief clarifying consultation terms once verified.

Tully Rinckey appeared in a meaningful share of answers but received no endorsements, and its wording was entirely neutral. The observed questions tied to its mentions sit outside core bankruptcy topics, which suggests the firm is being surfaced for breadth rather than for a specific bankruptcy recommendation.

We would propose a review of how the firm's bankruptcy offering is described, plus a baseline entry, before any performance target is set.

John T. Orcutt held a steady mention count but its endorsements dropped away in November, leaving neutral wording only. There are no recorded conflicts to resolve, so the question is about presentation rather than accuracy.

We would propose a page brief examining how the firm's services and differentiators are stated, and a baseline scorecard entry to track whether endorsement returns.

Fears Nachawati recorded no mentions and no endorsements in November, unchanged from the prior month. With no observed presence, there is nothing to correct or defend.

We would propose a light-touch baseline entry and a check of how the firm presents its bankruptcy work, treating any future appearance as a new observation rather than a recovery.

Sasser Law Firm lost its recorded endorsements in November while keeping a smaller mention count, and its wording is now neutral. The observed questions tied to its mentions are local Raleigh searches, which points to geography rather than a specific service gap.

We would propose a page brief on the firm's local bankruptcy pages and a baseline entry, with no correction work unless a verified conflict emerges.

The Semrad Law Firm appeared in November answers without endorsements, and one mention carried negative wording. Its recorded questions overlap with DebtStoppers, which suggests the two names are being discussed in similar contexts.

We would propose a review of how the firm is distinguished from related brands, plus a baseline entry. Clarifying that relationship on owned pages is the natural first step before any endorsement target.

The CiteWorks five-step improvement plan

Step 1. Establish the baseline

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to establish the baseline for Bankruptcy Lawyers?

Build a cohort scorecard that records each firm's mentions, endorsements, placements and wording for the November sample, with the sample size and service mix noted beside it. Every entry should carry an owner and a review status so later months can be compared on documented terms.

The scorecard is a working record, not a performance verdict. Its value is that it makes future comparisons honest about what changed in the sample.

Step 2. Verify disputed facts

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to verify disputed facts for Bankruptcy Lawyers?

AI answers contained 27 conflicting claims across 3 companies. Another 0 possible conflicts were excluded because their company matches were uncertain. The conflicting claims need fact-checking before any corrections are proposed.

Work through the recorded conflicts company by company, starting with the fee and timeline claims that most affect a buyer's decision. For each, confirm the entity, the date and the primary source before deciding whether a correction is warranted.

Where a company match is uncertain, the item stays out of the correction queue. Confirmed items, no-change decisions and open questions should be logged separately so the record stays clear.

Step 3. Review owned pages

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to review owned pages for Bankruptcy Lawyers?

Turn the selected owned pages into page briefs that state what the page should establish, which facts need verification and what evidence supports each claim. Briefs should be written before any edit and reviewed against current page contents.

Where a page already covers the ground well, the brief should say so and record a no-change decision rather than forcing an edit.

Step 4. Review third-party sources

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to review third-party sources for Bankruptcy Lawyers?

Prepare source-review packages for the selected third-party pages, checking what each page currently says before any request is drafted. A citation in an answer does not show that the page influenced it, so requests should rest on the page's own content.

Requests and responses should be logged separately from confirmed edits, so the record distinguishes what we asked for from what changed.

Step 5. Address buyer questions and measure again

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to address buyer questions and measure again for Bankruptcy Lawyers?

Draft buyer-question content from the questions actually observed, focusing on the cost and process concerns that recur across firms. Each brief should answer the question directly and cite verifiable detail.

After the work is delivered, run a fresh scorecard and report completed work separately from answer outcomes, noting the comparability limits of the new sample.

These pages are candidates for review, not confirmed errors. Citation appearances are counted across the captured answers and are not added again for each company.

The publisher list is dominated by pages tied to a single firm, with business-profile and community pages making up most of the rest. That concentration means review effort should follow the pages that actually appear across many answers, not the longest list.

Before any request, each page needs a current-content check. A citation count shows the page appeared in captured answers; it does not show that the page shaped the answer or that its contents are accurate.

We would prioritise the pages covering multiple firms and the official and community sources where a factual correction would carry weight, and treat the rest as monitoring targets.

What we'd prioritize first

Period

Deliverable

Completion criterion

Days 1–30

Baseline scorecard, scoped fact-review register and page/source shortlist

Each record has an owner, evidence requirement and review status

Days 31–60

Approved page briefs and justified publisher requests

Separate confirmed edits, no-change decisions, requests and responses

Days 61–90

Buyer-content briefs and a fresh scorecard

Record work completed separately from measured answer outcomes and comparability limits

The first priority is the fact-check queue, starting with the fee and timeline conflicts where a wrong detail could mislead a buyer. Those need primary-source verification before anything else moves.

The second is the endorsement gap. Several firms are visible but never recommended, and understanding why begins with their own pages and profiles rather than with outreach.

The third is the baseline itself. Without a documented November scorecard, later months cannot be read honestly, so that record should be in place before any review work is judged.

Methodology and conclusion

Questions This Section Answers

  • What do the Bankruptcy Lawyers sample and source-review limits allow us to conclude?

This report covers 2026-11. The exact dates when the original AI answers were collected have not been verified. The visibility rates use 122 answers that met the benchmark's inclusion rules. A company is recommended only when the answer both endorses it and uses positive wording. Top 3 and first-place counts are part of those recommendations, not extra recommendations.

An answer can mention or recommend several companies, so company counts cannot be added to find the number of distinct answers. The net sentiment score is positive minus negative mentions, divided by all company mentions; it describes answer wording, not customer satisfaction.

The wider citation analysis covers 323 captured answers and 2477 appearances of cited URLs. Citation appearances across all captured answers differ from the number of benchmark answers citing a page and the number that also recommend a company. The current contents of cited pages and disputed company claims still need independent verification.

The answer samples differ between months. These comparisons show how the recorded results changed; they do not establish why they changed.

The November figures rest on the answers that met the benchmark's inclusion rules, and the collection dates for the original answers have not been verified. Endorsement requires both an affirmative recommendation and positive wording, and placements sit inside recommendations rather than alongside them.

Because an answer can name several firms, company counts cannot be added to reach a number of answers. The monthly samples differ, so the comparisons describe recorded movement without explaining it.

Proposed work should be judged on whether it was completed and verified, not on promised gains in future answers.

Understanding AI search visibility.

AI search experiences create answers by pulling information from many places online and summarizing it into a single response.

What Is AI Citation Intelligence?
AI citation intelligence is the process of measuring where AI platforms source their information and how frequently a brand is mentioned or referenced in AI-generated responses. Because LLMs synthesize across multiple sources, the sites and brands that appear repeatedly tend to influence how a topic or company is framed. This practice focuses on identifying which sources shape AI outputs and tracking brand visibility across different AI systems.
What Is Citation Architecture?
Citation architecture describes the set of sources that consistently inform how AI systems talk about a brand, product, or topic. LLMs draw from websites, articles, forums, and public discussion, and the sources they rely on most often become the backbone of their answers. Building strong citation architecture means ensuring that accurate, credible, high authority sources are the ones most likely to shape the way AI tools summarize and recommend a brand.
What Is Generative Engine Optimization?
Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of improving the chances that AI systems use and cite your brand or content when generating answers. While traditional SEO is centered on ranking pages in search results, GEO focuses on how LLMs retrieve, interpret, and combine information when responding to a question. The objective is to strengthen the content and sources AI systems rely on, so your brand is treated as a trusted reference in AI responses.
What Is AI Share of Voice?
AI share of voice tracks how often a brand appears in AI-generated answers compared with competitors in the same category. It reflects visibility across AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity. Monitoring AI share of voice helps organizations see whether AI systems consistently include and recommend their brand for key queries or whether competitor brands are showing up more often.
