Key Takeaways
- Fi leads on mentions in the dog tracker and pet accessories benchmark, but it trails Tractive on first-place recommendations.
- The main content issue is conflicting AI claims about pricing and subscription terms, which should be verified before any page changes.
- Several third-party review and comparison pages are repeatedly cited in answers and should be checked against primary sources.
- The site has limited cited coverage, so the next step is to strengthen existing pages around common buyer questions and product details.
Answer Capsule
In November 2026, Fi appeared in 426 of 677 AI answers included in the Dog Gear, Collars and Outdoor Pet accessories benchmark (62.92%). It received 275 recommendations (40.62%), with 227 Top 3 placements and 69 first-place recommendations. A mention means the company appeared in an answer; a recommendation means the answer affirmatively endorsed it.
Our plan compares the company with its competitors, checks conflicting AI claims against reliable sources, and identifies website pages, third-party sources and buyer questions to address. The historical results show how the figures changed across available months. Different monthly samples limit those comparisons, and conflicting AI claims require verification before corrections are proposed.
Current AI visibility
Questions This Section Answers
- How do Fi mentions, recommendations and placements compare with its Dog Gear, Collars and Outdoor Pet accessories peers?
Fi recorded 426 mentions (62.92%) and 275 recommendations (40.62%) across 677 answers included in the benchmark. Top 3 placements numbered 227; first-place recommendations numbered 69. Framing among its mentions was 301 positive, 123 neutral and 2 negative.
Rank | Company | Mentions | Mention rate | Recommendations | Recommendation rate | Top 3 | Top 3 rate | #1 | #1 rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Tractive | 424 | 62.63% | 286 | 42.25% | 262 | 38.70% | 187 | 27.62% |
2 | Fi | 426 | 62.92% | 275 | 40.62% | 227 | 33.53% | 69 | 10.19% |
3 | Ruffwear | 262 | 38.70% | 232 | 34.27% | 220 | 32.50% | 133 | 19.65% |
4 | 246 | 36.34% | 221 | 32.64% | 159 | 23.49% | 14 | 2.07% |
Fi sits at the top of this benchmark on reach, appearing in roughly three of every five answers, and its recommendation rate is close behind the leader. That combination matters more than raw mentions: buyers who hear the brand named are often also told it is a good choice.
The gap is in placement strength. Fi is recommended often but is named first far less often than its closest rival, and less often than a brand it outranks on mentions. Being on the list is not the same as being the answer a buyer acts on.
Framing is largely positive, with very few negative mentions, so the wording problem is small. The practical work is to understand which questions and sources produce first-place answers and to strengthen Fi's standing there, while confirming the claims behind those answers.

From October 2026 to November 2026, Fi's mention count rose from 301 to 426, while its recommendation count rose from 227 to 275. The recommendation rate was 40.54% and 40.62% respectively.
Fi's recorded mentions and recommendations both rose in November compared with October, and the recommendation rate held essentially flat. The mention rate moved up more than the recommendation rate, which means more answers named Fi without more of them endorsing it.
First-place recommendations edged up in count while the share of answers giving Fi first place eased. Top-three share also came down from October. These are separate selected samples, so the month-to-month movement should be read as an observation, not as evidence of cause or of a trend that will continue.
The useful reading is that reach grew faster than endorsement strength. That points the next round of work toward the answers where Fi is named but not recommended, and toward the sources those answers lean on.

Step 1. Measure
Questions This Section Answers
- What should the agency measure and verify first for Fi?
AI answers contained 49 conflicting claims about Fi: 0 critical, 23 high, 26 medium, 0 low. Of these, 23 were rated critical or high priority; the critical claims are included in that total. These ratings help prioritize fact-checking. They do not establish that a company or publisher made an error.
Before changing anything, the client needs two things side by side: where Fi stands against its closest competitors, and which statements about the brand are actually in dispute. The benchmark comparison shows the placement gap; the claim review shows where answers disagree about price and subscription terms.
A visibility scorecard would track mention, recommendation and first-place standing by question and by AI service, so the client can see which topics carry the gap. A scoped fact-review list would rank the disputed claims by how often they appear and how consequential they are for a buyer.
Together these set priorities on evidence rather than impression. The claim ratings indicate where to look first; they do not show that Fi or any publisher got something wrong.
Step 2. Make the website consistent
Questions This Section Answers
- Which recorded claim differences about Fi should be verified before proposed page edits?
Review topic | Severity | Recorded AI claim A | Recorded AI claim B |
|---|---|---|---|
subscription cost per year | medium | ~$100–$200/year | ~$99+/year |
hardware price (Series 3+) | high | $512.16 | $189.00 |
Series 3+ price | high | ~$189 | $129 |
subscription requirement / no-monthly-fee status | high | requires a paid cellular subscription | no-monthly-fee / subscription-free option |
Both columns quote AI answers, not verified company facts. Resolve the entity, date and source before deciding whether a correction is warranted; different dates can explain an apparent conflict.
The disputed topics cluster around price and subscription terms, which are exactly the details a buyer checks before purchasing. Conflicting figures for hardware and for ongoing cost create hesitation even when the underlying product is well regarded.
The first step is verification, not correction. Each claim needs its entity, date and source confirmed against current primary material, because an older price or a different bundle can explain an apparent conflict without anyone being wrong. Only after that should the client decide whether a page change is warranted.
Where verification supports it, we would draft conditional page briefs covering pricing, plan terms and what the subscription includes, written so a reader can match the right figure to the right product and date.
Step 3. Align the external narrative
Questions This Section Answers
- Which cited third-party pages are relevant to fact review for Fi?
Cited page selected for review | Citation appearances in all captured answers | Answers mentioning the company | Conflicting claims linked to this page |
|---|---|---|---|
https://pcmag.com/picks/the-best-pet-trackers-and-gps-dog-collars | 105 | 105 | 28 |
https://treelinereview.com/gearreviews/best-gps-dog-collars | 111 | 110 | 27 |
https://nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-gps-pet-trackers/ | 94 | 91 | 25 |
https://jakobagsds.com/blog/best-gps-trackers | 93 | 92 | 22 |
https://techgearlab.com/topics/home/best-gps-dog-collar | 50 | 48 | 14 |
https://pettrackerlab.com/compare/tractive-vs-fi/ | 21 | 19 | 10 |
These pages were selected because they relate to the company in the captured answers. Their current contents still need checking before any correction request. A page linked to a conflicting claim is not necessarily its cause, and the same answer may contribute to more than one row.
A small set of review and comparison pages recurs across the answers that discuss Fi, and several of them are linked to disputed claims. That makes them worth reading closely, but a link is not proof that a page caused the claim or that its contents are inaccurate.
We would review each selected page against current primary sources, note where its wording differs from verified facts, and prepare evidence-backed requests only where a genuine discrepancy exists. Publishers decide their own content, so requests are framed as information, not demands.
The comparison pages deserve particular attention because they set Fi directly against a rival, which is where price and subscription confusion is most likely to shape a buyer's choice.
Step 4. Optimize priority company pages
Questions This Section Answers
- Which observed Fi website pages should receive review briefs?
Company website page | Citation appearances in all captured answers | Benchmark answers citing the page | Recommending answers citing the page |
|---|---|---|---|
https://tryfi.com/ | 3 | 3 | 3 |
https://shop.tryfi.com/r/33J7J4/ | 1 | 1 | 1 |
https://shop.tryfi.com/r/4C6RWH/ | 1 | 1 | 1 |
https://tryfi.com/?RT_Fi= | 1 | 1 | 1 |
The company's website was cited 6 times across 4 distinct page addresses; the table shows 4 pages selected for review. Zeros in the answer columns mean no matching answers were recorded. A cited page is not automatically a page that accompanied a recommendation.
Fi's own site is cited only a handful of times in these answers, and the cited addresses are mostly the homepage and short redirect links rather than detailed product or pricing pages. That is a modest footprint for a brand this visible in the answers themselves.
We would build page briefs around approved facts, starting with the questions buyers actually ask and the details that answers currently get wrong. Each brief would specify the audience question, the verified facts to state, and the product and plan distinctions that need to be clear.
Before proposing any new page, we would check what the site already covers, so the work improves existing pages rather than duplicating them.
Step 5. Publish around buyer questions
Questions This Section Answers
- Which observed buyer questions support content briefs for Fi?
Question observed in the research | Benchmark answers to this question | Company mentions | Company recommendations |
|---|---|---|---|
What is the best dog tracker on the market? | 6 | 6 | 6 |
What is the best tracker for pets? | 6 | 6 | 6 |
What is the best tracker for your dog? | 6 | 6 | 6 |
What is the best GPS collar for dogs? | 5 | 5 | 5 |
What is the best device to track your dog? | 5 | 5 | 5 |
What is the best tracker for a pet? | 5 | 5 | 5 |
What's the best GPS tracker for a dog? | 5 | 5 | 5 |
Which is the best dog tracker? | 5 | 5 | 5 |
These are recorded answer observations, not search volume, verified demand, or proof of missing website content.
The recorded questions are consistently about choosing a tracker or GPS collar for a dog or pet, phrased in several close variations. Fi appears in every one of these answers and is recommended in each, which suggests the brand is already part of the consideration set for this kind of question.
That makes the opportunity less about being discovered and more about being the confident first choice. Content briefs would address the buyer's real decision points: how tracking works, what ongoing costs to expect, and how the models differ.
These are observed answer patterns, not search volume or proof that the site lacks coverage, so each brief would begin with a check of existing pages before anything new is proposed.
Our 90-day action plan
Questions This Section Answers
- How should the agency sequence the proposed Fi work and judge completion?
Period | Deliverable | Completion criterion |
|---|---|---|
Days 1–30 | Baseline scorecard, scoped fact-review register and page/source shortlist | Each record has an owner, evidence requirement and review status |
Days 31–60 | Approved page briefs and justified publisher requests | Separate confirmed edits, no-change decisions, requests and responses |
Days 61–90 | Buyer-content briefs and a fresh scorecard | Record work completed separately from measured answer outcomes and comparability limits |
The first month establishes the baseline: a scorecard by question and AI service, a scoped fact-review register with an owner and evidence requirement for each disputed claim, and a shortlist of pages and sources to examine. Nothing is corrected in this phase.
The second month turns verified findings into approved page briefs and, where a real discrepancy is confirmed, justified publisher requests. Confirmed edits, no-change decisions, requests and responses are recorded separately so the client can see what was decided and why.
The third month adds buyer-question content briefs and a fresh scorecard. Completed work is reported apart from measured answer outcomes, since visibility can move for reasons outside the agency's control and no gain is guaranteed.
Methodology
Questions This Section Answers
- How are Fi answer metrics and citation populations defined?
This report covers 2026-11. The exact dates when the original AI answers were collected have not been verified. The visibility rates use 677 answers that met the benchmark's inclusion rules. A company is recommended only when the answer both endorses it and uses positive wording. Top 3 and first-place counts are part of those recommendations, not extra recommendations.
An answer can mention or recommend several companies, so company counts cannot be added to find the number of distinct answers. The net sentiment score is positive minus negative mentions, divided by all company mentions; it describes answer wording, not customer satisfaction.
The wider citation analysis covers 800 captured answers and 5429 appearances of cited URLs. Citation appearances across all captured answers differ from the number of benchmark answers citing a page and the number that also recommend a company. The current contents of cited pages and disputed company claims still need independent verification.
Monthly sample coverage:
Reporting month | Answers included | AI services covered | Services |
|---|---|---|---|
Jul 2026 | 628 | 6 | ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity |
Aug 2026 | 594 | 6 | ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity |
Sep 2026 | 587 | 6 | ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity |
Oct 2026 | 560 | 6 | ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity |
Nov 2026 | 677 | 6 | ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity |
The answer samples differ between months. These comparisons show how the recorded results changed; they do not establish why they changed.
The answers behind these figures were collected for the stated month, though the exact collection dates are unverified. Each month is a separate sample, so comparisons describe how recorded results moved, not why.
A recommendation requires both an endorsement and positive wording; first-place and top-three counts sit inside recommendations rather than adding to them. Answers can name several companies, so counts cannot be summed into distinct answers.
Cited pages and disputed claims still need independent verification, and a citation does not show that a source influenced an answer.
Our first three priorities
The clearest priority is closing the placement gap. Fi is named and recommended widely but is first far less often than its main rival, so the work should focus on the questions and sources that produce first-place answers rather than on broadening reach further.
Second is resolving the price and subscription conflicts through verification before any correction. These are purchase-blocking details, and a conditional page brief on pricing and plan terms would help once the facts are confirmed against current primary sources.
Third is strengthening Fi's own pages around buyer questions, since the site is cited only lightly despite strong answer presence. A scorecard and fact-review register would keep all three tracks accountable without claiming outcomes the evidence cannot yet support.
