Fiverr appears in the top three more often than every tracked brand except Upwork, but it is named first in only 11.08% of qualified observations, compared to Upwork's 25.57%. Where Fiverr Has the Clearest AI Visibility Gaps

Questions This Section Answers

  • Why does Fiverr trail Upwork on rank-one recommendations despite strong shortlist placement?
  • Which platforms show the widest gap between Fiverr's presence and its top-three recommendation rate?

Fiverr's clearest gap is first-position recommendation share. The brand is named as the single top recommendation in 11.08% of qualified observations, compared to Upwork's 25.57%. That 14.49-point gap means Fiverr is frequently shortlisted but less often selected as the default answer when AI systems provide a single recommendation.

The gap is most pronounced on ChatGPT and Copilot. On ChatGPT, Fiverr holds a 50.0% valid recommendation coverage rate and a 40.7% top-three rate, but its rank-one rate is only 7.4%. Upwork, by contrast, holds a 50.0% rank-one rate on ChatGPT. On Copilot, Fiverr holds a 79.2% valid recommendation coverage rate but a top-three rate of only 1.9% and a rank-one rate of 1.9%. The brand is present on Copilot but rarely recommended in a top-three position.

Fiverr's rank-one gap is also visible on Google AI Mode. The brand holds a 67.5% valid recommendation coverage rate and a 32.5% top-three rate on Google AI Mode, but its rank-one rate is 15.0%, compared to Upwork's 21.3%. On Google AI Overviews, Fiverr holds a 7.5% rank-one rate, compared to Upwork's 32.8%.

The pattern suggests Fiverr's recommendation strength is concentrated in shortlist placement rather than first-position selection. The brand is consistently included in AI-generated shortlists but less often named as the single best option.

Fiverr's presence on Copilot is a specific gap. The brand is mentioned in 96.2% of Copilot observations but receives a top-three recommendation in only 1.9% of them. This is the widest presence-to-recommendation gap in Fiverr's platform profile.

Biggest Opportunity

Questions This Section Answers

  • Which platforms present the clearest opportunity for Fiverr to convert mentions into rank-one recommendations?
  • What prompt types should Fiverr prioritize to close its first-position recommendation gap?

Fiverr's biggest opportunity is converting its large mention base into more rank-one recommendations, particularly on ChatGPT, Copilot, and Google AI Overviews. The brand is already visible in 73.58% of qualified answers and receives a valid recommendation in 68.18% of them. The gap is in first-position selection, where Fiverr trails Upwork by 14.49 points.

The opportunity is specific: strengthen the framing, evidence, and citation signals that AI systems use when selecting a single top recommendation. Fiverr's high top-three rate (35.23%) shows the brand is already considered a strong option. The work is in moving from shortlist to first choice.

The highest-priority prompts are those in the Brand Recommendation cluster, where buyers ask for a single best option. Examples include "What is the best survey site to make money?" and "What is the most legit online survey?" These prompts reward brands with clear, well-sourced, and consistently framed answers.

Questions This Section Answers

  • Which phases address Fiverr's specific rank-one recommendation gap?
  • How does the plan prioritize platforms where Fiverr holds top-three placement but trails on first-position selection?

Phase 1: AI Market Discovery Audit Map Fiverr's prompt-level recommendation patterns across all six tracked platforms, identifying the specific queries where the brand is shortlisted but not selected first.

Phase 2: Recommendation Readiness Plan Prioritize the highest-intent prompts where Fiverr holds top-three placement but trails on rank-one selection, focusing on ChatGPT, Copilot, and Google AI Overviews.

Phase 3: Owned Answer Layer Buildout Strengthen Fiverr's owned pages and structured content so AI systems can retrieve clear, consistent, and well-framed answers about the brand's value proposition.

Phase 4: Citation and Authority Layer Development Build the external evidence layer that AI systems cite when forming recommendations, including publisher coverage, comparison pages, and third-party validation.

Phase 5: Monthly AI Visibility and Recommendation Tracking Track Fiverr's rank-one rate, top-three rate, and sentiment across all tracked platforms to measure progress against Upwork and the midfield tier.

Why This Matters

AI presence alone is not enough. Fiverr is mentioned in 73.58% of qualified answers and receives a valid recommendation in 68.18% of them, but it is named first in only 11.08% of observations. That gap between presence and first-position selection is where buyer choice is decided.

The next move is targeted correction of the prompt, page, and citation layers. Fiverr's shortlist placement is strong. The work is in strengthening the framing, evidence, and source signals that AI systems use when selecting a single top recommendation. That is a fixable gap, and it is the clearest path from reference to recommendation.

Sentiment Score = (positive mentions × 1 + neutral mentions × 0 + negative mentions × -1) / total mentions

Fiverr's sentiment score for October 2026 is 0.9614, calculated from 249 positive mentions, 10 neutral mentions, and zero negative mentions across 259 total mentions.

This matters because unclassified mention counts are misleading. A positive recommendation, a neutral reference, a cautionary mention, and a competitor-displaced mention are not equal. Counting all mentions as wins is bad measurement. Classified sentiment is required before interpreting AI visibility.

Fiverr's sentiment profile is clean. The brand recorded zero negative mentions in October 2026, and its positive mention count of 249 is the second-highest in the category, behind Upwork at 266. The 10 neutral mentions represent factual references rather than cautionary framing.

Methodology

  1. This report is a benchmark-based analysis of Fiverr's AI recommendation visibility in the Make Money Online category for October 2026. It is not a client result and does not imply that CiteWorks Studio caused any benchmark outcome.
  2. The reporting window is October 2026. The benchmark baseline is July 2026, with monthly runs in August, September, and October 2026.
  3. Six AI and search platforms were tracked: ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Google AI Mode.
  4. The October 2026 run began with 800 prompt-surface observations. After deduplication, 606 unique questions were identified. Of those, 390 were relevant to the Make Money Online category, and 352 qualified for the public benchmark.
  5. The competitor universe includes 10 tracked brands: Amazon, Etsy, Fiverr, InboxDollars, Rover, Shopify POS, Survey Junkie (Acquiring Company: DISQO, Inc.), Swagbucks, TaskRabbit, and Upwork.
  6. All qualified observations in October 2026 fell into the Brand Recommendation cluster. The Pricing and Value and Multi-Brand Comparison clusters contained zero qualified observations in the current public series.
  7. Stage 0 refers to the raw prompt-surface collection stage. Brand-level percentages use the qualified observations as the public denominator, not the raw collection.
  8. A mention is counted when a brand appears in an AI response to a qualified prompt, regardless of whether the brand is recommended.
  9. A valid recommendation is counted when a brand receives a positive recommendation with a rank between 1 and 10. Negative, neutral, cautionary, comparison-anchor, and listed-only mentions are not counted as valid recommendations.
  10. Average recommended rank covers rank-eligible recommendations only. Brands with no rank-eligible recommendations are marked N/A.
  11. The benchmark does not measure market share, sales attribution, organic-search ranking positions, social mention volume, or causality from metric movement alone.
  12. Small observation counts for individual brands mean single-prompt shifts can move percentages. Shopify POS, at a handful of valid recommendations, is the clearest example, and its movement should be read with caution.
