Key Takeaways

  • International Van Lines led the set on recommendations, while American Van Lines appeared most often but converted to endorsements less consistently.
  • JK Moving Services showed strong recommendation strength and improved in the latest monthly sample.
  • Colonial Van Lines and Safeway Moving had moderate mention coverage but lower recommendation rates than the leaders.
  • Wheaton World Wide Moving had minimal visibility, so its results are too small to support a stable trend read.

Companies covered: Wheaton World Wide Moving, International Van Lines, JK Moving Services, Colonial Van Lines, American Van Lines, Safeway Moving

Answer Capsule

The November 2026 Long Distance Moving Carriers benchmark compares 6 companies across 511 AI answers that met its inclusion rules. International Van Lines recorded 309 mentions and 269 recommendations (52.64% of the answers). Being mentioned means appearing in an answer; being recommended means receiving an affirmative endorsement.

We examine each company, compare the available monthly results, and set out a five-step plan for improving the information AI systems can draw on. The work starts with measuring visibility and checking conflicting claims, then moves to company pages, relevant publishers and buyer questions. The cited pages need review before any correction request, and the research does not establish what caused recommendation differences or promise future gains.

The peer set splits into two distinct profiles. International Van Lines and JK Moving Services earn an affirmative endorsement on most of the answers that name them, while American Van Lines appears in far more answers but draws an endorsement in a much smaller share. Reach and endorsement are separate assets here, and the gap between them is the central strategic question for the category.

American Van Lines illustrates the risk of broad but shallow presence. Its framing is overwhelmingly positive, yet many answers that name it stop short of an affirmative endorsement. That pattern suggests the company is treated as a familiar option rather than a preferred one, which is a positioning problem rather than a visibility problem. Colonial Van Lines and Safeway Moving sit in the middle, with solid mention coverage but weaker endorsement rates than the leaders.

Wheaton World Wide Moving barely registers, so its results are a thin signal rather than a stable position. The agency would separate reach-building work from endorsement-building work, since the two need different content and source strategies.

The monthly samples differ in size and composition, so the movement between months should be read as recorded change rather than like-for-like performance. American Van Lines shows the widest swing, with mentions rising sharply while recommendations fell. Colonial Van Lines shows the opposite tension, with mentions edging up as recommendations dropped.

International Van Lines and Safeway Moving both recorded lower mention and recommendation counts in the latest sample. JK Moving Services moved in the other direction on both measures. Because each month is a separate selected sample, these movements cannot be attributed to any single cause, and the agency would treat the series as a directional indicator only.

Wheaton World Wide Moving's counts are too small to support trend interpretation. The agency would document sample composition alongside each future snapshot so that later comparisons are clearly framed as descriptive.

Wheaton World Wide Moving's presence in the benchmark is minimal, so the current figures describe a thin footprint rather than a settled position. The single recommendation and single first-place placement are too few to read as a pattern. The agency would first confirm that answers are matching the correct entity before drawing any conclusion.

Proposed work is a conditional review: verify the selected owned page and the third-party list against current primary sources, then decide whether any factual correction or content brief is warranted. No correction should be proposed until that verification is complete.

International Van Lines leads the peer set on recommendation strength, and its framing is almost entirely positive. That combination is the strongest position in the category, but it also raises the cost of factual drift, since answers repeat specific claims about ratings and cancellation terms. The agency would protect this position with disciplined fact checking rather than new visibility work.

Proposed work is a fact-check brief covering the disputed rating and deposit-refund claims, paired with a review of the selected owned page and the third-party international list. Any correction would follow primary-source verification, and the agency would record confirmed edits separately from no-change decisions.

JK Moving Services pairs strong recommendation strength with consistently positive framing, and it gained on both mentions and recommendations in the latest sample. Its recorded conflicts are moderate rather than urgent, centering on cost ranges and competing best-overall claims. The agency would treat these as positioning questions that need a verified source before any response.

Proposed work is a page brief for the owned site plus a review of the selected third-party ranking page, focused on establishing which cost and ranking statements can be supported. The agency would confirm current source contents first and log outcomes as confirmed, no-change or pending.

Colonial Van Lines holds respectable mention coverage but a weaker recommendation rate than the leaders, and its latest sample shows mentions rising while recommendations fell. Several recorded conflicts are rated high priority, including a direct disagreement about whether a deposit is required. That kind of split matters because it touches a buyer's first financial decision.

Proposed work is a fact-check brief on the deposit question and the review-score claims, alongside a review of the owned FAQ page and the third-party review page. The agency would verify each claim against current primary sources before recommending any edit or publisher request.

American Van Lines is the clearest case of reach outpacing endorsement. It appears in most answers but earns an affirmative endorsement in a much smaller share, and the latest sample shows mentions rising while endorsements fell. The recorded broker-versus-carrier conflict is rated high priority because it goes to how the company actually operates.

Proposed work is a fact-check brief on the broker and carrier question, plus a page brief for the owned site aimed at clarifying service model and pricing in plain terms. The agency would also resolve the excluded uncertain matches before adding anything to the review queue.

Safeway Moving sits in the middle of the peer set, with moderate mention coverage and a recommendation rate below the leaders. Its recorded conflicts concern discount availability and best-for positioning, both of which shape how buyers compare offers. Neither is rated critical, so the agency would sequence them behind higher-priority items.

Proposed work is a page brief for the owned site and a review of the selected third-party list, focused on confirming which pricing and discount statements can be supported. The agency would verify current source contents before proposing any correction or publisher request.

The CiteWorks five-step improvement plan

Step 1. Establish the baseline

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to establish the baseline for Long Distance Moving Carriers?

The agency would build a cohort scorecard that records each company's mentions, recommendations, placements and framing on a consistent basis, with the sample composition noted beside every snapshot. Each record would carry an owner, an evidence requirement and a review status so that later comparisons are traceable.

The scorecard is a working document, not a performance verdict. It gives the team a shared reference for what was observed and what still needs verification.

Step 2. Verify disputed facts

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to verify disputed facts for Long Distance Moving Carriers?

AI answers contained 37 conflicting claims across 5 companies. Another 9 possible conflicts were excluded because their company matches were uncertain. The conflicting claims need fact-checking before any corrections are proposed.

The agency would work through the recorded conflicts company by company, starting with those rated highest priority. Each disputed claim would be checked against current primary sources, and the entity, date and source would be resolved before any correction is considered.

The uncertain company matches would be handled separately through an identity check. Nothing enters the correction queue until the match is confirmed, and a confirmed conflict would still be logged as a finding rather than an assumed publisher error.

Step 3. Review owned pages

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to review owned pages for Long Distance Moving Carriers?

The agency would prepare page briefs for the selected owned pages, describing what each page should clarify for buyers and which claims need supporting evidence. Briefs would be written only after the current page contents are verified, since the selection is a review candidate rather than a confirmed gap.

Each brief would note the specific questions the page should answer and the facts that must be sourced. Edits would be proposed conditionally, with confirmed changes recorded separately from no-change decisions.

Step 4. Review third-party sources

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to review third-party sources for Long Distance Moving Carriers?

The agency would review the selected third-party pages to confirm what they currently say before preparing any request. Citation appearances show where answers point, not what those pages contain or whether they influenced an answer, so each page needs a fresh read.

Where a verified discrepancy exists, the agency would prepare an evidence-backed request package. Where the page is accurate, the outcome would be recorded as no change, and requests and responses would be tracked separately.

Step 5. Address buyer questions and measure again

Questions This Section Answers

  • What should the agency deliver when it works to address buyer questions and measure again for Long Distance Moving Carriers?

The agency would turn the observed buyer questions into content briefs that address the comparisons buyers actually ask about, such as best overall, cross-country and international moves. These briefs would be grounded in verified facts rather than in the wording of any single answer.

A later scorecard would record delivered work alongside fresh answer observations, keeping the two separate. The agency would not claim that any content change caused a movement in the measured results.

These pages are candidates for review, not confirmed errors. Citation appearances are counted across the captured answers and are not added again for each company.

The publisher list should be prioritized by relevance and by how many of the tracked companies each page covers, not by citation volume alone. The broad interstate and national ranking pages reach several companies at once, which makes them efficient review targets, while company-specific review pages serve a narrower purpose.

Citation appearances are counted across captured answers and are not evidence that a page shaped an answer. The agency would verify each page's current contents before preparing any request, and would treat the owned-page candidates as separate from third-party outreach.

What we'd prioritize first

Period

Deliverable

Completion criterion

Days 1–30

Baseline scorecard, scoped fact-review register and page/source shortlist

Each record has an owner, evidence requirement and review status

Days 31–60

Approved page briefs and justified publisher requests

Separate confirmed edits, no-change decisions, requests and responses

Days 61–90

Buyer-content briefs and a fresh scorecard

Record work completed separately from measured answer outcomes and comparability limits

The first priority is the fact base, because several of the highest-priority conflicts touch money and service model rather than marketing language. Resolving the deposit, broker and cancellation questions gives the team a reliable foundation before any page or publisher work begins.

The second priority is the endorsement gap at American Van Lines, where broad presence is not converting into recommendations. The third is protecting International Van Lines' leading position through careful fact maintenance rather than expansion.

Work would run in staged blocks, with a baseline scorecard and review shortlist first, approved briefs and justified requests second, and buyer-content briefs with a fresh scorecard last. Completion would be recorded against each record's evidence requirement.

Methodology and conclusion

Questions This Section Answers

  • What do the Long Distance Moving Carriers sample and source-review limits allow us to conclude?

This report covers 2026-11. The exact dates when the original AI answers were collected have not been verified. The visibility rates use 511 answers that met the benchmark's inclusion rules. A company is recommended only when the answer both endorses it and uses positive wording. Top 3 and first-place counts are part of those recommendations, not extra recommendations.

An answer can mention or recommend several companies, so company counts cannot be added to find the number of distinct answers. The net sentiment score is positive minus negative mentions, divided by all company mentions; it describes answer wording, not customer satisfaction.

The wider citation analysis covers 777 captured answers and 4684 appearances of cited URLs. Citation appearances across all captured answers differ from the number of benchmark answers citing a page and the number that also recommend a company. The current contents of cited pages and disputed company claims still need independent verification.

The answer samples differ between months. These comparisons show how the recorded results changed; they do not establish why they changed.

The benchmark measures how often companies appear and are endorsed in a fixed set of answers, and the rates describe answer wording rather than customer experience. Because an answer can name several companies, the counts are not additive, and the monthly samples differ in composition, so comparisons show recorded change without explaining it.

The citation analysis covers a wider set of answers than the benchmark, and the two should not be combined. Current page contents and disputed company claims still require independent verification.

The proposed next steps are a baseline scorecard, a scoped fact-review register, verified page and source briefs, and buyer-question content, with delivered work tracked separately from answer outcomes. No outcome is guaranteed.

Understanding AI search visibility.

AI search experiences create answers by pulling information from many places online and summarizing it into a single response.

What Is AI Citation Intelligence?
AI citation intelligence is the process of measuring where AI platforms source their information and how frequently a brand is mentioned or referenced in AI-generated responses. Because LLMs synthesize across multiple sources, the sites and brands that appear repeatedly tend to influence how a topic or company is framed. This practice focuses on identifying which sources shape AI outputs and tracking brand visibility across different AI systems.
What Is Citation Architecture?
Citation architecture describes the set of sources that consistently inform how AI systems talk about a brand, product, or topic. LLMs draw from websites, articles, forums, and public discussion, and the sources they rely on most often become the backbone of their answers. Building strong citation architecture means ensuring that accurate, credible, high authority sources are the ones most likely to shape the way AI tools summarize and recommend a brand.
What Is Generative Engine Optimization?
Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of improving the chances that AI systems use and cite your brand or content when generating answers. While traditional SEO is centered on ranking pages in search results, GEO focuses on how LLMs retrieve, interpret, and combine information when responding to a question. The objective is to strengthen the content and sources AI systems rely on, so your brand is treated as a trusted reference in AI responses.
What Is AI Share of Voice?
AI share of voice tracks how often a brand appears in AI-generated answers compared with competitors in the same category. It reflects visibility across AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity. Monitoring AI share of voice helps organizations see whether AI systems consistently include and recommend their brand for key queries or whether competitor brands are showing up more often.
