Key Takeaways
- Certn was mentioned in 18 of 286 benchmark answers in November 2026, but only 7 answers recommended it.
- The main disputed claim to verify is pricing, where AI answers conflict between per-check and monthly subscription models.
- Certn’s own site and selected third-party pages were flagged for review because they appear in captured answers.
- The 90-day plan starts with fact-checking, then moves to page briefs, publisher requests, and buyer-question content.
Answer Capsule
In November 2026, Certn appeared in 18 of 286 AI answers included in the Background Checks benchmark (6.29%). It received 7 recommendations (2.45%), with 3 Top 3 placements and 2 first-place recommendations. A mention means the company appeared in an answer; a recommendation means the answer affirmatively endorsed it.
Our plan compares the company with its competitors, checks conflicting AI claims against reliable sources, and identifies website pages, third-party sources and buyer questions to address. The historical results show how the figures changed across available months. Different monthly samples limit those comparisons, and conflicting AI claims require verification before corrections are proposed.

Certn appears in a small share of the answers reviewed, and its recommendations are rarer still. The gap to the leading firms is wide, so the practical question is not how to close it quickly but where a modest gain is most achievable. The company's mentions lean positive or neutral, with no negative framing recorded, which gives any outreach a reasonable starting tone.
Placement within recommendations is thin, so being named is not yet translating into being chosen. The agency would treat this as a baseline to work from rather than a verdict, and would pair it with a short list of claims worth checking before any content or publisher work begins.

From October 2026 to November 2026, Certn's mention count fell from 38 to 18, while its recommendation count fell from 29 to 7. The recommendation rate was 5.75% and 2.45% respectively.
The monthly record shows a smaller answer sample in the latest month, and the company's mention and recommendation counts both fell alongside it. The two observations sit side by side; the smaller sample does not explain the movement, and the comparison should be read with that limit in mind.
Earlier months were steadier, with recommendations holding in a similar band while mentions drifted. Because each month is a separate selected sample, the agency would avoid reading a trend into one interval and would instead watch the next few months before drawing conclusions about direction.

Step 1. Measure
Questions This Section Answers
- What should the agency measure and verify first for Certn?
AI answers contained 1 conflicting claim about Certn: 0 critical, 0 high, 1 medium, 0 low. Of these, 0 were rated critical or high priority; the critical claims are included in that total. These ratings help prioritize fact-checking. They do not establish that a company or publisher made an error.
A single disputed claim about the company was recorded, rated at medium severity. That rating is a sorting device for fact-checking, not a finding that anyone made a mistake. The agency would build a short scorecard that pairs each disputed claim with the evidence needed to settle it, so review effort goes where it can actually change an answer.
The same scorecard would list the company's own approved facts, giving writers and reviewers one reference point. This keeps later page briefs and publisher requests anchored to verified material rather than to whatever an answer happened to say.
Step 2. Make the website consistent
Questions This Section Answers
- Which recorded claim differences about Certn should be verified before proposed page edits?
Review topic | Severity | Recorded AI claim A | Recorded AI claim B |
|---|---|---|---|
pricing model (per-check vs monthly subscription) | medium | per-check pricing (~$13.99 per check) | monthly subscription ($4.99–$69.99/mo) |
Both columns quote AI answers, not verified company facts. Resolve the entity, date and source before deciding whether a correction is warranted; different dates can explain an apparent conflict.
The disputed topic concerns how the company prices its service, with one answer describing per-check pricing and another describing a monthly subscription. Both are recorded AI statements, not confirmed company facts, and different dates or product tiers could account for the apparent conflict.
The agency would first confirm the entity, the date and the primary source behind each version. Only then would it draft a conditional page brief, written so the page states the verified model clearly. If the sources agree, no correction is proposed; if they diverge, the brief explains the current position in plain terms.
Step 3. Align the external narrative
Questions This Section Answers
- Which cited third-party pages are relevant to fact review for Certn?
Cited page selected for review | Citation appearances in all captured answers | Answers mentioning the company | Conflicting claims linked to this page |
|---|---|---|---|
https://pin.com/blog/background-check-tools-recruiters/ | 20 | 3 | 1 |
https://thehiresignal.com/hr-tools/best-background-check-services-employers-2026 | 5 | 1 | 1 |
https://checkr.com/pricing | 15 | 0 | 1 |
https://traqcheck.com/blogs/best-background-check-software | 9 | 0 | 1 |
https://prehirebadge.com/blog/background-check-cost-guide | 5 | 0 | 1 |
https://frontdeskreview.com/best/background-checks/ | 2 | 0 | 1 |
These pages were selected because they relate to the company in the captured answers. Their current contents still need checking before any correction request. A page linked to a conflicting claim is not necessarily its cause, and the same answer may contribute to more than one row.
Several third-party pages were selected for review because they appeared alongside the company in captured answers. Citation does not show that a page shaped an answer, and a page linked to a disputed claim is not necessarily its cause. The agency would check each page's current contents before deciding whether any request is warranted.
Where a page does appear to describe the company inaccurately, the agency would prepare a factual, evidence-backed note for the publisher. Where the page is simply a general roundup, the more useful work is usually the company's own pages rather than an unsolicited request.
Step 4. Optimize priority company pages
Questions This Section Answers
- Which observed Certn website pages should receive review briefs?
Company website page | Citation appearances in all captured answers | Benchmark answers citing the page | Recommending answers citing the page |
|---|---|---|---|
https://certn.co/blog/fcra-background-check-requirements-for-employers/ | 3 | 2 | 0 |
https://certn.co/us/background-screening-api/ | 2 | 0 | 0 |
https://certn.co/blog/certn-vs-checkr/ | 1 | 0 | 0 |
https://certn.co/us/property-management/ | 1 | 0 | 0 |
The company's website was cited 7 times across 4 distinct page addresses; the table shows 4 pages selected for review. Zeros in the answer columns mean no matching answers were recorded. A cited page is not automatically a page that accompanied a recommendation.
The company's own site was cited across a handful of pages, including an article on background check requirements, a screening API page, a comparison page and a property management page. Citation counts are small, and a cited page is not automatically one that accompanied a recommendation.
The agency would prepare page briefs for the pages most relevant to buyer questions, using approved facts and the questions buyers actually ask. Each brief would note what the page should clarify, such as pricing structure, and would be reviewed against primary sources before publication.
Step 5. Publish around buyer questions
Questions This Section Answers
- Which observed buyer questions support content briefs for Certn?
Question observed in the research | Benchmark answers to this question | Company mentions | Company recommendations |
|---|---|---|---|
What is the best software for background checks? | 5 | 3 | 1 |
What is the most comprehensive background check? | 3 | 2 | 1 |
Who do most employers use for background checks? | 5 | 2 | 1 |
What is the most legit background check? | 5 | 1 | 1 |
What is the most trusted background check? | 5 | 1 | 1 |
Which background check do most employers use? | 4 | 1 | 1 |
employment screening software | 1 | 1 | 1 |
What is the best service for background checks? | 6 | 1 | 0 |
These are recorded answer observations, not search volume, verified demand, or proof of missing website content.
The recorded questions cluster around choosing a provider: best software, most comprehensive check, most trusted service and who employers actually use. The company is mentioned in several of these answers but recommended in only some, which suggests room to strengthen how its offer is described where buyers are comparing options.
The agency would check existing coverage before proposing anything new, then draft briefs for the questions where the company already appears. Content would answer the comparison directly, using verified facts, rather than repeating generic marketing language that answers tend to skip over.
Our 90-day action plan
Questions This Section Answers
- How should the agency sequence the proposed Certn work and judge completion?
Period | Deliverable | Completion criterion |
|---|---|---|
Days 1–30 | Baseline scorecard, scoped fact-review register and page/source shortlist | Each record has an owner, evidence requirement and review status |
Days 31–60 | Approved page briefs and justified publisher requests | Separate confirmed edits, no-change decisions, requests and responses |
Days 61–90 | Buyer-content briefs and a fresh scorecard | Record work completed separately from measured answer outcomes and comparability limits |
The first month establishes the baseline: a scorecard, a scoped fact-review list and a shortlist of pages and sources, each with an owner and a clear evidence requirement. Nothing is corrected at this stage; the aim is a defensible starting record.
The second month turns confirmed findings into page briefs and, where justified, publisher requests, with confirmed edits and no-change decisions logged separately. The third month adds buyer-question content briefs and a fresh scorecard. Completed work is reported separately from any change in answer visibility, and no gain is promised.
Methodology
Questions This Section Answers
- How are Certn answer metrics and citation populations defined?
This report covers 2026-11. The exact dates when the original AI answers were collected have not been verified. The visibility rates use 286 answers that met the benchmark's inclusion rules. A company is recommended only when the answer both endorses it and uses positive wording. Top 3 and first-place counts are part of those recommendations, not extra recommendations.
An answer can mention or recommend several companies, so company counts cannot be added to find the number of distinct answers. The net sentiment score is positive minus negative mentions, divided by all company mentions; it describes answer wording, not customer satisfaction.
The wider citation analysis covers 800 captured answers and 4999 appearances of cited URLs. Citation appearances across all captured answers differ from the number of benchmark answers citing a page and the number that also recommend a company. The current contents of cited pages and disputed company claims still need independent verification.
Monthly sample coverage:
Reporting month | Answers included | AI services covered | Services |
|---|---|---|---|
Jul 2026 | 503 | 6 | ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity |
Aug 2026 | 539 | 6 | ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity |
Sep 2026 | 513 | 6 | ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity |
Oct 2026 | 504 | 6 | ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity |
Nov 2026 | 286 | 6 | ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity |
The answer samples differ between months. These comparisons show how the recorded results changed; they do not establish why they changed.
The answers were collected on dates that have not been verified, and each month draws a separate sample, so month-to-month movement shows what was recorded, not why. A company counts as recommended only when an answer endorses it with positive wording, and placement counts sit inside recommendations rather than adding to them.
Answers can name several companies, so counts cannot be summed into a number of distinct answers. Citation appearances are a separate measure from benchmark answers and recommendations. Disputed claims and the current contents of cited pages still require independent verification.
Our first three priorities
First, settle the pricing question against primary sources before any page or publisher work proceeds. The recorded conflict is the one place where a verified fact could directly improve how the company is described, and it should be resolved rather than guessed at.
Second, prepare page briefs for the company's own pages that already appear in answers, starting with the comparison and requirements content buyers are most likely to read. Third, draft buyer-question content for the comparison questions where the company is mentioned but not recommended, checking existing coverage first. Each step is proposed work, reported apart from any measured change in visibility.
