Ada AI Visibility Market Strategy Report - Chatbots

Answer Capsule
Ada holds 9.17% valid recommendation coverage in the Chatbots category for October 2026, placing it eighth among ten tracked brands. The benchmark shows Ada is visible in 12.16% of qualified observations but converts that presence into a valid recommendation in only 9.17% of them, a gap that separates it from category leaders Intercom (67.43%) and Tidio (61.24%). Ada's clearest win is a positive framing profile with a net sentiment score of 0.8113 and zero negative mentions. Its clearest weakness is recommendation conversion: presence without shortlist placement. The clearest opportunity is closing the gap between raw mention presence and valid recommendation coverage in the Brand Recommendation cluster.

Executive Summary
Ada recorded 9.17% valid recommendation coverage in October 2026, placing it eighth among the ten tracked chatbot brands. The benchmark shows Ada was mentioned in 12.16% of qualified observations, meaning the brand appears in AI answers but is shortlisted as a valid recommendation in only a fraction of those appearances. This is a presence-to-recommendation conversion gap, not a visibility problem.
Ada's mention profile is clean. The dataset marked 43 positive mentions, 10 neutral mentions, and zero negative mentions, producing a net sentiment score of 0.8113. That places Ada's framing quality in line with category leaders and above Freshdesk (0.7132) and Drift (0.6471). The brand is not being framed negatively; it is being framed positively but infrequently.
The strongest cluster for Ada is C01, Best Chatbot Software & AI Agents, the only cluster with sufficient observation coverage in the October 2026 benchmark. Within C01, Ada recorded a top-three recommendation rate of 2.52% and a rank-one rate of 0.92%, with 11 top-three placements and 4 first-position recommendations across 436 qualified observations. The benchmark's Pricing & Value and Multi-Brand Comparison clusters produced no qualified observations in this reporting period, so Ada's performance in those buyer-intent contexts is not measured here.
The strongest platform signal for Ada is Google AI Overviews, where the brand recorded 6 valid recommendations and a rank-one rate of 2.04%, the highest rank-one rate Ada achieved on any tracked platform. Google AI Mode also surfaced Ada with a 3.25% top-three rate and 4 top-three placements. On ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and Perplexity, Ada's recommendation footprint is thinner, with ChatGPT showing zero top-three placements and Copilot showing zero top-three placements despite 11 and 11 mentions respectively.
The clearest platform gap is ChatGPT. Ada was mentioned in 10% of ChatGPT observations but received zero top-three recommendations and zero rank-one placements on that platform. By contrast, Intercom recorded a 52.00% top-three rate and a 28.00% rank-one rate on ChatGPT. The gap between Ada's presence and Intercom's recommendation conversion on the same platform is the sharpest competitive displacement signal in Ada's dataset.
Ada's average recommended rank across all platforms is 3.7742, the second-lowest placement position among tracked brands with rank-eligible recommendations, ahead of only Landbot (3.8125). This means that when Ada does receive a valid recommendation, it typically appears near the bottom of the shortlist rather than at the top.
The benchmark identifies where attention is warranted. For Ada, the evidence points to a recommendation conversion problem concentrated in the consideration-stage cluster and on platforms where competitors have established stronger shortlist positions.
What Ada Is Winning
Questions This Section Answers
- Where does Ada's framing quality rank among the tracked chatbot brands?
- Why is Google AI Overviews Ada's strongest platform for first-position recommendations?
Ada's clearest win is framing quality. The benchmark recorded zero negative mentions for Ada across 436 qualified observations, and the brand's net sentiment score of 0.8113 is the third-highest among tracked brands, behind Tidio (0.8567) and ManyChat (0.8182). Ada is not being framed as a cautionary example or a comparison anchor; it is being described positively when it appears.
Ada's second win is its Google AI Overviews performance. The brand recorded a 6.12% valid recommendation coverage rate on Google AI Overviews, which is higher than its overall coverage rate of 9.17% would suggest relative to other platforms. Ada's rank-one rate on Google AI Overviews was 2.04%, the highest rank-one rate the brand achieved on any tracked platform. This suggests that Google's AI-generated overview layer is more receptive to Ada's public evidence footprint than conversational AI platforms are.
Ada's third win is its positive visibility rate. The benchmark recorded a 9.86% positive visibility rate for Ada, meaning the brand received positive framing in nearly 10% of all qualified observations. This is a narrow but meaningful signal that Ada's public evidence layer is capable of generating positive recommendation language when the brand is surfaced.
These wins are real but limited. Ada does not hold a dominant position in any cluster, platform, or prompt type. The brand's recommendation footprint is narrow, and its wins are about framing quality rather than recommendation volume or placement strength.
Where Ada Has the Clearest AI Visibility Gaps
Questions This Section Answers
- How large is the gap between Ada's ChatGPT mentions and its top-three recommendations?
- Why does Ada's average recommended rank of 3.7742 reduce its shortlist impact compared with Intercom and Tidio?
- Which buyer-intent clusters produced no qualified observations for Ada?
Ada's most significant gap is recommendation conversion. The benchmark shows Ada was mentioned in 12.16% of qualified observations but received a valid recommendation in only 9.17% of them. This means that in roughly one out of every four observations where Ada appears, the brand is mentioned but not shortlisted as a valid recommendation. The gap between presence and recommendation is the clearest signal that Ada's public evidence layer is not strong enough to convert visibility into shortlist placement.
The second gap is competitive displacement on ChatGPT. Ada was mentioned in 10% of ChatGPT observations but received zero top-three recommendations and zero rank-one placements on that platform. Intercom, by contrast, recorded a 52.00% top-three rate and a 28.00% rank-one rate on ChatGPT. Tidio recorded a 32.00% top-three rate and a 2.00% rank-one rate on the same platform. When buyers ask ChatGPT for chatbot recommendations, Ada is visible but not chosen. The brand is being displaced by competitors with stronger recommendation signals.
The third gap is placement depth. Ada's average recommended rank is 3.7742, meaning that when the brand does receive a valid recommendation, it typically appears in the fourth position or lower. Intercom's average recommended rank is 2.6509, Tidio's is 3.0000, and Zendesk Chat's is 2.7443. Ada is not just less frequently recommended; it is recommended lower in the shortlist when it does appear. This placement depth reduces the likelihood that Ada is surfaced as a primary option in buyer-facing AI responses.
The fourth gap is platform concentration. Ada's recommendation footprint is heavily concentrated on Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, with thinner presence on ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and Perplexity. On Copilot, Ada recorded 11 mentions but zero top-three recommendations. On Gemini, Ada recorded 13 mentions but only 2 top-three recommendations. On Perplexity, Ada recorded 5 mentions and 3 top-three recommendations, but zero rank-one placements. The brand's recommendation strength is not evenly distributed across platforms, and the platforms where Ada is weakest are the ones where competitors are strongest.
The fifth gap is cluster concentration. All of Ada's qualified observations in October 2026 fell into the Brand Recommendation cluster. The benchmark produced no qualified observations in the Pricing & Value or Multi-Brand Comparison clusters. This means Ada's performance in pricing discussions and head-to-head comparisons is not measured in this reporting period. The benchmark's scope boundaries note that the public series does not yet answer which brands win pricing conversations or direct comparisons. For Ada, this is a blind spot rather than a confirmed weakness, but it is a gap in the evidence layer that limits the completeness of the visibility picture.
Biggest Opportunity
Questions This Section Answers
- Which platform offers the largest upside for closing Ada's recommendation conversion gap?
- Why is Ada absent from the chatbot category's top-cited domains, and what does that mean for its recommendation coverage?
Ada's biggest opportunity is closing the recommendation conversion gap in the Brand Recommendation cluster by strengthening the public evidence layer that AI systems use to form shortlists. The benchmark shows Ada is mentioned in 12.16% of qualified observations but recommended in only 9.17% of them. The gap between presence and recommendation is the clearest path to improvement.
The specific opportunity is to increase Ada's top-three recommendation rate in the C01 cluster, where the brand currently records a 2.52% top-three rate and a 0.92% rank-one rate. Intercom's top-three rate in the same cluster is 47.25%, and Tidio's is 36.70%. The gap between Ada and the category leaders is not about visibility; it is about recommendation placement. Ada needs to be shortlisted more often and placed higher when it is shortlisted.
The platform-specific opportunity is ChatGPT. Ada was mentioned in 10% of ChatGPT observations but received zero top-three recommendations on that platform. This is the sharpest platform-level gap in Ada's dataset. Improving Ada's recommendation conversion on ChatGPT would have an outsized effect on the brand's overall recommendation coverage because ChatGPT is one of the highest-volume platforms in the benchmark.
The evidence layer opportunity is citation architecture. The benchmark's top cited domains for the chatbot category include youtube.com, google.com, reddit.com, zapier.com, zendesk.com, livechat.com, tidio.com, featurebase.app, g2.com, and kayako.com. Three tracked brand domains appear in the top 10: zendesk.com at rank 5, livechat.com at rank 6, and tidio.com at rank 7. Ada's domain does not appear in the top 10 cited domains. The benchmark notes that citations are broadly distributed across 1,654 unique domains, with the top 10 accounting for 28.0% of all citations. Ada's absence from the top cited domains suggests that the brand's public evidence layer is not as retrievable or as frequently synthesized by AI systems as the evidence layers of the category leaders.
Competitive Landscape
Questions This Section Answers
- Where does Ada place among the ten tracked chatbot brands on top-three and rank-one rates?
- How far behind category leaders are Ada's recommendation-stage metrics?
Intercom and Tidio hold the strongest recommendation-stage positions in the Chatbots category for October 2026, with Intercom leading on top-three rate and rank-one rate and Tidio leading on overall valid recommendation coverage. Ada sits in the bottom third of the tracked set, with recommendation strength concentrated on Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode rather than on conversational AI platforms.

ManyChat | 9.86% | 3.44% | 3.2958 | 0.8182 |
Drift | 5.50% | 1.61% | 3.1282 | 0.6471 |
Ada | 2.52% | 0.92% | 3.7742 | 0.8113 |
Chatfuel | 2.52% | 0.00% | 3.1429 | 0.8095 |
Landbot | 1.83% | 0.23% | 3.8125 | 0.7200 |
Average recommended rank covers rank-eligible recommendations only.
Ada's 2.52% top-three rate places it eighth in the tracked set, tied with Chatfuel. Its 0.92% rank-one rate places it eighth, ahead of Chatfuel (0.00%) and Landbot (0.23%). Its average recommended rank of 3.7742 is the second-lowest in the set, ahead of only Landbot. The table shows that Ada's recommendation strength is concentrated at the bottom of the shortlist when it appears at all, and that the gap between Ada and the category leaders is substantial on every recommendation-stage metric.
Prompt Evidence
ChatGPT / Brand Recommendation Prompt: "What is the best free LiveChat support for website?" Result: Ada was mentioned but received no top-three recommendation placement, while Intercom and Tidio were shortlisted.
Google AI Overviews / Brand Recommendation Prompt: "best live chat software" Result: Ada received a valid recommendation with a rank-one placement, one of four first-position recommendations the brand recorded across all platforms.
Google AI Mode / Brand Recommendation Prompt: "ai chatbot platform" Result: Ada was mentioned and received a top-three recommendation placement, contributing to its 3.25% top-three rate on Google AI Mode.
Perplexity / Brand Recommendation Prompt: "customer engagement tools" Result: Ada received a valid recommendation but no rank-one placement, consistent with its zero rank-one rate on Perplexity.
What CiteWorks Studio Would Do Next
Phase 1: AI Market Discovery Audit Map Ada's prompt-level visibility across all six tracked platforms, identify the specific prompts where the brand is mentioned but not recommended, and quantify the recommendation conversion gap by cluster and platform.
Phase 2: Recommendation Readiness Plan Prioritize the prompts and platforms where Ada's presence-to-recommendation gap is widest, with a focus on ChatGPT and Copilot, where the brand receives mentions but no top-three placements.
Phase 3: Owned Answer Layer Buildout Strengthen Ada's owned content so that AI systems can retrieve clear, structured, recommendation-ready language about the brand's capabilities, use cases, and differentiators.
Phase 4: Citation / Authority Layer Development Build Ada's presence in the third-party sources that AI systems cite most frequently in the chatbot category, including review platforms, comparison sites, and community forums where the brand is currently underrepresented.
Phase 5: Monthly AI Visibility and Recommendation Tracking Track Ada's recommendation coverage, top-three rate, rank-one rate, and sentiment score month over month to measure whether the conversion gap is closing.
Why This Matters
AI presence alone is not enough. Ada is mentioned in 12.16% of qualified observations, but it is recommended in only 9.17% of them. The difference between being mentioned and being recommended is the difference between being part of the conversation and being part of the buyer shortlist. When a buyer asks an AI system for chatbot recommendations, the brands that appear in the top three are the ones that enter the evaluation set. Ada is visible, but it is not consistently shortlisted.
The next move is targeted correction of the prompt, page, and citation layers. Ada's public evidence layer needs to be strengthened so that AI systems can retrieve clear, structured, recommendation-ready language about the brand. The benchmark shows that Ada's framing is positive when the brand appears; the problem is that the brand does not appear often enough or high enough in the shortlist. Closing that gap requires improving the sources that AI systems cite, the pages that AI systems retrieve, and the prompts where Ada is currently visible but not recommended.

Sentiment Score
Questions This Section Answers
- How is Ada's net sentiment score of 0.8113 calculated?
- Why does Ada's strong sentiment score not translate into higher recommendation coverage?
Sentiment Score = (positive mentions × 1 + neutral mentions × 0 + negative mentions × -1) / total mentions
Ada's sentiment score for October 2026 is 0.8113, calculated from 43 positive mentions, 10 neutral mentions, and zero negative mentions across 53 total mentions.
This matters because unclassified mention counts are misleading. A brand that is mentioned frequently but framed negatively is not in a strong position, even if its raw mention count is high. Ada's zero negative mentions and 43 positive mentions indicate that the brand is being described favorably when it appears in AI responses. The 10 neutral mentions are factual references rather than recommendations, and they do not contribute to the sentiment score.
Share of voice is a diagnostic metric, not a business KPI. A positive recommendation, a neutral reference, a cautionary mention, and a competitor-displaced mention are not equal. Ada's sentiment score of 0.8113 is strong, but it does not capture the recommendation conversion gap. The brand is framed positively but recommended infrequently. Counting all mentions as wins would obscure the fact that Ada is mentioned in 12.16% of observations but recommended in only 9.17% of them.
Classified sentiment is required before interpreting AI visibility. Ada's positive framing is a real asset, but it is not a substitute for recommendation placement. The brand needs to convert its positive framing into higher recommendation coverage and stronger shortlist positions.

Methodology
- This report is a benchmark-based analysis of Ada's AI recommendation visibility in the Chatbots category for October 2026. It is not a client implementation case study and does not imply that CiteWorks Studio caused any benchmark outcome.
- The reporting window is October 2026. The benchmark series covers July 2026 through October 2026, with August 2026 and September 2026 as intermediate months.
- Six AI platforms were tracked: ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, and Google AI Overviews. All six platform families produced at least one qualified observation in October 2026.
- The benchmark produced 436 qualified observations in October 2026 from an initial collection of 800 prompt-surface observations. The qualification pipeline removed 152 irrelevant observations and 212 reserved observations, leaving 436 qualified observations as the public denominator for all brand-level metrics.
- Ten companies were tracked in the October 2026 benchmark: Ada, Chatfuel, Drift, Freshdesk, Intercom, Landbot, LiveChat (Text S.A.), ManyChat, Tidio, and Zendesk Chat. Zendesk and LiveChat were tracked under their parent names in earlier months but appear under split entity names in October 2026.
- Three public high-intent clusters were defined: C01, Best Chatbot Software & AI Agents (consideration stage); C02, Chatbot Platform Comparisons & Alternatives (evaluation stage); and C03, Chatbot Platform Pricing & Plans (decision stage). Only C01 produced sufficient qualified observations in October 2026. C02 and C03 produced no qualified observations.
- Stage 0 extraction retains the query, AI/search surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and, where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources. Source presence is evidence about the information environment and is not automatically proof that the source caused the recommendation.
- A mention is counted when a tracked brand appears in an AI response to a qualified prompt. A valid recommendation is counted when a brand appears in a valid recommendation shortlist, as marked by the dataset. Mentions and valid recommendations are separate metrics and are not collapsed into a single visibility measure.
- Top-three rate is the share of qualified observations where a brand appears in the top three recommended options. Rank-one rate is the share of qualified observations where a brand is the first recommended option. Average recommended rank is the average position when a brand receives valid rank credit.
- The benchmark does not measure market share, attributable sales, organic-search ranking, social mention volume, or private or sponsored channels. A movement in a single metric does not by itself establish causality.
- The benchmark's public series does not yet contain qualified observations in the Pricing & Value or Multi-Brand Comparison clusters. Ada's performance in pricing discussions and head-to-head comparisons is not measured in this reporting period.
- Small observation counts for brands such as Ada, Chatfuel, and Landbot mean their coverage percentages rest on a narrow base of valid recommendations from the October 2026 qualified set. Ada's 40 valid recommendations and 53 mentions should be interpreted with that limitation in mind.
